It has water in it

Decided to get the house, driveway and patio finished this year so it didn't look like a building site going into next year.

finally got the patio and driveway finished this weekend
Pond is now ready for glassing and filter house fit out (the fun bit)
Decided to leave this until next year now so i can get it all finished in one go and get some fish in for the summer.
Getting quotes for fibre glassing and glass so i can get it booked in (date to look forward to).

DBS put me to shame with his progress and DIY skills.

Nice patio- slate is a good choice for minimal pond window reflections
You’re probably very sensible to hold off with plans for glassing and finishing in the spring- you now have months to plan and a whole season to look forward to for next year. You also don’t have a pond that needs covering and/or heating over winter2016 new 6000 gallon pond

Good idea getting the patio and drive done, a lovely tidy job
I was damn lucky getting my glassing done when I did, although I was delayed and should have done it a week or so earlier when weather was better, there is no way I could do it now... You have a great spell of time now to as you say get things booked in and lined up at the correct time, a VERY wise decision

the snow is melting and the temperatures are rising, so the time has come to execute on all that planning & re-planning and planning again over winter.
Ken is booked in to line, fiberglass and fit the pond windows. Glass is on its way, due in 2-4 weeks time.
Marquee due to be delivered next week (inspired by DBS)
and this lot turned up today from Coastal Koi - thanks to Dave and Kate for driving it down to Essex on Valentines day
lots i can be getting on with now.
Some pics of the equipment i decided on.

Very exciting time for you. Good luck with it. Just finished plumbing in my drum filter and cannot believe how much work was involved. Finished just before the snow!
Don't forget to post lots of pictures.

Some good progress over the past week.
Water, electric and path completed, much to everyone's relief that they can use the side path again.
path 1.jpgpath 2.jpg
was dreading cutting out the 2 blocks for the Skimmer to fit into, but went without hitch. I cut down the sides with the electric disk cutter and then got a big chisel under the block to wedge them out. worked a treat.
first bit of progress the wife noticed after 6 months of staring out at the building site. Excitement all around.
skimmer1.jpgskimmer2.jpg
I then cut down the 4" pipes coming out of the concrete from the bottom drains, again i was not looking forward to this job, kept imagining how many things could go wrong.
Ended up buying a really thin disk cutter for the angle grinder, marking the pipes square using some paper and then went for it. The angle grinder cut through with no problems at all, no melting or issues that i had read and dreamt about for weeks.

Next came the day of the big filter move, this combi filter was far to heavy to lift between the 2 of us, so we used pressure pipes underneath to push, slide and shuffle along.
Gate had to come off, that's how tight it was.
We did it though, was actually quite painless, filter now in position ready for plumbing.

aiming to get this all dry plumbed over the next couple days, no doubt i will have to order more parts that i have not thought about.
Still waiting for the Marquee, its been stuck with UPS for 3 weeks now. I have no words for how i feel about that delivery company, well at least words that would not get me banned from this forum.

I used to work for UPS but left in November thankfully! The drivers generally work their asses off though its the logistics between where the issues often are. Although my issue was I left and the following Friday they finally got the yearly pay increase signed off after covid delayed it for 7 months because we was so unbelievably busy and as a result all my colleagues received a tidy back pay which I was apparently not eligible for due to leaving a week later, despite working for 8.5 months of the period! I lost my respect for the company after that. Of course it was all behind the scenes where I can't get contact to so had no way of pleading my case despite writing letters etc.

Haha, usually what happens with international stuff that gets stuck is the sender hasn't included commercial invoices so they can't process it, or the labels are damaged/lost!

If you’re desperate enough to drive to Somerset you can have my 4mx6m marquee. It’s been in the garage for 4 years since my pond build, have never got round to moving it on.

this does sound awful, sorry to hear how they treated you. It really does not surprise me though.
Amazingly a UPS driver turned up 2 weeks ago with 1 box of the 6, i had a moan at him and said UPS are utter shite. He agreed and said you have no idea how bad they are.
Felt sorry for the driver as he could not help, he said the rest might turn up tomorrow. I just swore some more and that was that.
A week later another box of the 6 turned up.
So i know the boxes are in the warehouse in Stanford Le Hope, they just cant work out the logistics to put them all on one of those lovely brown vans at the same time and drive them out to me. Me who paid nearly £100 for the privilege of the UPS treatment.

thanks Feline, what a lovely offer. It may well come to that.
Its actually a 6x4m i have sitting in the UPS warehouse.
I would be interested to see your setup anyway, as i think the filter i have is similar to the one you use.
If it wasn't for Covid restrictions i would be jumping in the car for a daytrip.

It just reiterated what we are all always told about work, no matter how much you help a company out you are just a number at the end of the day! I wouldn't mind, but at the point I left, it was between my leaving date and what should have been my final pay a week later, then they didn't pay me my remaining overtime till a month later! Definitely a sour taste after working through the pandemic for them, cancelling a holiday to help in the worst of it and doing overtime every day for them to say I am not eligible to receive the back pay because I left a week before they decided to sign it off, which ironically was delayed due to us being worked into the ground to help get the 40-50% extra volume out every day!
Where abouts in Essex are you? I wonder if your parcels would be going through the Bury st Edmunds depot or Stanford le hope. Bury does the Colchester post codes. Stanford le Hope is a hub so lorrys go in and out of there to be distributed to other centres.
