Exactly . The only time I relax round me pond is when I feed them, the rest of the time seems hectic .

12 x 7.5, that's a nice manageable size Dave, my garden is to big now I'm getting older. It used to be OK when I was younger, I used to have aviaries all down the left side where I used to breed and hybridize British birds, which I have done since me teens, but in the end it became to much work for me so I sold all me birds, got rid of the aviaries and had all the garden turfed.

i'll admit 150ft is probably a lot to manage,
but mowing that lot...i'd get a second hand ride on mower like a stiga park, they are great mowers, used one at work in the prisons for years...

but if i had 150ft garden...
i'd put the whole lot down as a japanese stroll garden, torii gate, an artifical stream with bridges, niwaki pine trees, loads of acers, gravel, boulders ect...
and not a blade of grass

I've got a ride on mower Dave, to much to do with a walk along mower mate.

You got me thinking now, inmate, screw or gardener .

Can you imagine how much boulders, stones and gravel I would need for that lot , and I would think the money side of it wouldn't be cheap either . But a good idea if the pennies were available.

i did get to go home every night....well most nights....but occasionally had to back in the middle of the night...

doesn't have to cost a fortune, though boulders do cost the earth now...
this guy did it on the cheap....reletively.

I'm going to have a go at making a giant concrete/mortar fake rock in the next few weeks, something like 4' X 5' X 3', maybe a little smaller. There's no human way an actual rock that size is close to feasible for my location. If it all goes pear shaped, then the sledgehammer comes out and I'll build some raised beds to bury the evidence

How many tonne bags does it take to make that boulder PV.

Am not sure, it will be hollow, built around a strong wooden frame with galvanised mesh attached. So it'll be a thick render coat really. In 'wheelbarrows of mortar mix' terms, and aiming for about two inches thick, I'm guessing three barrows. Or four. So at a 5-1 sand to cement ratio, that is about 15-20 buckets of sand I'd guess. Might even do the first covering in concrete, then re-cover with mesh, then use the mortar as described above on top of that. Kind of want it hard enough so I could climb on top of it, because I won't be able to resist.

A bit more happening this evening, my nephew is running the armoured cable for the pond, and he made a board up for me, but the board is to big to hide in the filter bay, so he's going to run the sockets to where they need to be instead of using the board. Shame as it is a neat bit of work.

Yeah AJ, a shame mate. Me nephew's pulled all the board apart now, and he's fitting everything where I want it. And he's nearly finished. Pics coming soon .
