Yeah I agree Fred, glad I stopped the build now mate, as the weather is getting cold now and the good bacteria count would be non existent. It's only a few month and I can get going again, in the meantime I might have a go at building a Bakki river.
Nice cold beer by the pond, O yeah, can't wait mate .

Pump from skimmer to shower has turned up, just wish it had a bluetooth/wifi app to control it like my Oase, but it will do the job.

And a pic of the water table in winter where I live, right on the river blackwater Essex. Pond is 3 ft deep at the moment. I keep pumping it out but It's a waste of time atm. Can't wait to get it dry and get the liner in.

Hope everyone is well and coping with the pandemic. I had my 1st jab 2 weeks ago so feel a little safer. Anyway that's enough about that and on to some good news.
After getting rid off 6 of my old large pond fillers I had, I have got myself an IBC tank and set it up as a small quarantine tank for my new tosai. I have got myself 2 soragoi and 1 off them is a gin rin, 1 gin rin chagoi, 1 Kujaku, and 1 kin ki utsuri all from Chosen koi. and I'm also waiting for the delivery in a couple of weeks of 2 asagi, 1 ki utsuri, 1 shusui, and 1 shower all tosai from quality nishikigoi. By the time they arrive I'll have the other new tosai in the temp swimming pool and the IBC ready for the new arrivals.
Also now the weather is changing I can carry on with the new pond build, starting off with the rest of the concreting in the filter bay, Then I can get the eazypod fitted from the skimmer and piped to the home made 4 tier shower which I've filled with Sera Siporax, that will be the skimmer line sorted. Then it's time for the underlay, liner, and water before I fit the other filter from the 4" bottom drain back to the returns. I can't wait to get things on the go again, it seems like ages since I was working on the new build, but It's only been 3 months lol. I'll get some more pics up once I start again.
Keep safe everyone. Atb, Steve.

Hi all, the water table still hasn't dropped enough to get the liner in. But on a good note, look what the wife bought me today for the pond. Talk about happy

Lol, poor old Frim lol.
She was going to get me the normal fat big eared Buda AJ, but decided on the Tibetan Monk. I love it.
Her indoors usually gives me an ear ache, but this is better lol.

Her indoors is good like that. I went to see me mate Stewart who owns CN koi to have a look at some shiro utsuri tosai he's got in, but there not out of quarantine yet. And she went and bought a couple of Bay trees and some pots at the garden centre and came back with the monk. Right result lol.

Hi all, I should be concreting the bottom of the pond the weekend due to the water table still being to high. It's still way to muddy at the bottom of the pond to fit the liner, so thought if I concrete the bottom it will give me a solid base to work from and able me to get the liner fitted. Can't wait to get this done now as It's dragging on.
The next thing is I would like some opinions from those in the know.
I'm looking to buy a Kuro Goshiki from the breeder Hiroi koi farm, and looking to know If I have picked the right fish. The pic that has been cropped is the fish I have picked (sorry for the poor quality), the other pic is of the 5 fish on offer including the fish I have picked. If you think I have picked the wrong fish please let me know, and let me know what fish you would pick.
All help and advice is appreciated.
Atb, Steve.

Thanks lads, the reason I went for the one I picked was because the scale pattern on It's back looked better than the others, I wasn't sure whether to go for scale definition or pattern. All nice fish though.

Hi all. had the bottom of the pond concreted by one of me boys. He cut out the old drain and lifted it 6" with 2 45% 4" bends, due to water table to high and the bottom of the pond being to wet with clay. Then he got the concrete pads sorted for the levels we wanted back to the bottom drain.
