Still got loads to dig out in the filter house, but got the vortex hole dug out and a 6" concrete base done before I fitted the vortex. Also fitted the bottom drain valve to the filter house, and the pond return valve as well. So pond is valved of now so I can fit the liner and fill the pond without having to finish the filter house first.

Carried on with the filter house slab today. I'll get a finished pic up tomorrow.

Also fitted the skimmer today, that was fun . I used a chop saw, reciprocating saw and a multi tool saw. Didn't turn out bad either.

Then I covered the pond to keep the rain out so I can fit the underlay and liner.
We're getting there slowly

Hi everyone, I've not posted for a couple of weeks as the inch of gloopy clay at the bottom of the pond has turned into 6" of gloopy clay now, due to the fact that I live next to the river blackwater, and I think the water table has risen as winter starts to come, plus all the rain we have had has stopped play. And atm I'm not sure if It will dry out this winter, so may have to close the rest of the build down until next spring/summer. I'm hoping not though as I don't want to keep the fish in a plastic swimming pool all winter.

Yeah not great mate, but maybe able to get out there again when the weather turns really cold, as sometimes it hardens the ground up.
It's looking like I'm going to have to bubble wrap the swimming pool and filter and get a 300w fishtank heater in the filter just to keep the freeze off.

Not good mate Hoping the ground hardens when temps drop. What's left to do if the ground is ok to work on?

Not good at all Jay. Me to mate, I'm still sinking 6" when I stand at the bottom of the pond, can't wait for it to dry or harden up.
All that needs doing is blind sanding, underlay and liner, then I can sort the bottom drain out and get some water in there to settle the liner.

Just bubble wrapped the pool and filter for the winter, as It doesn't look like the new pond will be finished this year, I'm gutted as I wanted it finished before the winter set in. But as said before, the water table has stopped play.

Good decision... Nicely covered, is there plenty of room for gas exchange Steve, looks pretty much covered fully from your pic
