    Bottom drain plumbing...

    Me again Bottom drain plumbing...

Picked up a Cetus sieve last week and he had a great new set up. His bottom drain was set up as in picture 1 with a riser pipe to assist if he ever gets a blockage in the pipe work. I can see the benefit from it and to be fair it would be easier for me to copy and do the same (as I'll have more pipe to play with, rather than pic 2.

Only disadvantage I can see is flow restriction, anyone have any thoughts before I break the bank and order all my poor work Bottom drain plumbing...
    Cheers

Anyone any thoughts on either pic 2 or 3 to plumb my Nexus in from the drain?

    Hi jay
I used to run my pipework like this, I ran the airline to the bottom drain through it. This used to be the standard way before they started using pressure pipe for the air.
it does make it easier if you get a blockage I suppose,

Your other picture with pipework coming straight up and into the nexus is still the best way, if you can also put a T in to go to waste so you can perge the bottom drain

my nexus 320 from bottom drain. runs straight into the nexus. no T piece or rod pipe. like picture 2 mine is set up
but i always planned from the start to have a draco drop in inside the nexus. and have never had the easy running.
when i purge the bottom drain i never lose any water, as the design of the pond takes the full amount of water out the nexus into the pond. so clean water
then when i open the drain valve. the pond water goes back in to nexus getting cleaned by drop in draco. so lose no water.
i have a spindrifter on bottom drain. but as sim says thats another way of getting air to the drain.

Thanks Fred, I'm leaning more towards 'pic 2'
I'm hoping I have enough room, it might be a tight squeeze!

Where does the Cetus sieve fit in your plans?
