Pond build
Right so I have started my excavation and originally planned concrete blocks and pouring my own footing. But after so far hauling 9 tons of clay soil through my house on my own and probably another 9 tons to go... screw bringing 10 tonnes of sand and gravel through
I have no access to my garden other than through my house which is 10m walk with a wheelbarrow and would require 4 ramps...
So I have given up and decided to pay for c30 concrete ready mix and pump instead of mixing my own footing or laying blocks
I plan to buy 6mm rebar mesh here: https://www.metals4u.co.uk/materials...g-mesh/10830-p
The concrete walls will be 22cm wide and 80cm high. With the rebar vertically straight through the middle of the wall.
Would this be sufficient? Would it need a separate footing?
Could also use any advice you guys may have to reduce the cost of timber for forms...
Cheers

Pics won’t be much use as of yet as it just looks like I’ve had a meteor strike in my garden lmao
I’m aiming for 4m long 1.8m wide 0.8m high raised wall 1m in the ground. So will be 4m x 1.8m x 1.8m
Will have a 2m x 0.8m window on the 4m side

Very similar to one in half way through.
Mine I did an 8 inch reinforced base 10mm mesh - possibly over the top and then drilled for steel uprights. Have laid blocks and will fill.
I have a clay base and very unlikely to move.
How are you intending to go above the 0.8m ?
We filled two 8 m skips with clay and had a three ramps and about a 40m run ! Fortunately I had a team of testosterone fuelled lads urged on by a bonus to get it done.

I’m not having a concrete base. It will be like a concrete collar and block wall but instead concrete wall 0.8m high and the rest directly in the ground 1.2m down

What’s the best way to upload photos on here?
Also I hope someone can give me some input on the forms and the strength of the walls I’ll be pouring to ensure I’m doing it right before I go ahead and do it.
Got another couple of weeks of digging yet I think though

Yeah I’m going to put pur insulation boards against the dirt, make sure they are plumb and I’ll back fill the small gaps with some concrete where the clay hasn’t gone perfectly straight.
Looking at using a box weld liner. I’m going all out on the concrete can’t afford another 2500 on extra concrete and fiberglass ontop
Already spent over 3000 on just filtration. A nexus 220 and drop in draco, EQ 110UV

Lucky you, you have a digger lol. So far I’ve dug 9 tonnes atleast by hand with a spade

That's a grand effort mate! Pat on the back sir!
I planned on digging by hand but the ground was horrendous, could have done it but in the end got a micro digger and grab wagon, done in a day.
It was getting rid of the stuff that sold it to me to do it in a day.

Yeah I’m on the browser no option to add photo.
I’ll download the app.
Wish I could get a digger and grab wagon back there... I have other neighbours on each side of me houses back into other houses.
And my house has a massive extension which took away the side access 😂

Fortunately own part of a plant hire company though we don't go down to .8ton machines so hired it in from another plant company . Even at full hire cost say £200 PW it saves a fortune on labour digging out the hole.
Whilst I'm involved in the planning , decisions and supervising and bacon sarnies I'm paying for the Labour work.

Yeah but I need to build 4 ramps for my barrow and 4 turns through rooms to get from my front door to the garden.
And tbh digging is the easy bit... it’s barrowing up 4 ramps and round 4 corners through my house like 1000 times which is killing me

Ok here we go
Here’s a crator I’ve dug so far.
This is to the side of the main pond. I’m going to create a pressurised filter and bury it underground full of biomedia water will be pumped here after it goes through the drum so should theoretically never need cleaning so I should be able to backfill it no issue water can only get to it through the drum but I’ll add an access panel in the ground to get to it just incase. I’m building a shed ontop of it to house my nexus.
Havnt even started reshaping the pond hole yet... I still need to find a home for 40 trout so I can rip out the old liner
