Sounds a good size still Steve, going to look very impressive.
Cheap and will last is a hard combination with the UK weather, but hey as you say not seen on the back so a good saving area there... Have you thought of using sterling board (OSB) around the back, relatively cheap and lasts okay with cheap fence paint when regularily maintained ?? on it
I'm not sure what I am cladding mine in yet either, was going to do sleeper pond, but I have a office/cabin in the garden already and would all look too woody, so probably going for tile to break it up, or I may render it - time will tell as well as budget left

OSB is okay if you protect it from the weather, so slightly hidden under an under hang/protruding roof, guttering protecting it and frequent staining/painting should see it last okay, you may get a few flakes lift up but scrape them off and re-treat, of the sheet panelling it is your most economical option for sure, I will be making the doors on my kit store out of it, probably only need 3 or 4 sheets for mine

Lol well I powered on through the rain after the hot weather we've had it was nice to work in the rain and be cool. I've managed to dig the filter pit so next job is to lay the slab for the filter house and build the filterhouse so I can get the filters in place.

Good effort there Steve, you mixing the base yourself?
I mixed a small slab last weekend, was hard work in the heat, even with a mixer!

Yeah will be mixing and laying the base myself have to work out how many bags of ballast and cement I need. Not sure when it'll get done need a break in the weather to allow it to set

Just so you get an idea, this base is 4" deep by approx 1.8m by 1.2m that used 15 bags of ballast and 3.5 bags of cement.
I'm working at the minute, but will measure up tomorrow if you like.
