Slow progress with this weather on the new giant garden well!! but bottom drain in, filter housing dug out. Huge pile of clay finally gone. The thinking with circular shape (Other than fitting in with the garden) is It’s like a giant vortex with no place for the shiite to hide.

Concrete coming this week, I’ve had a think and I’m going 9ft diameter with a depth of 5ft, so 2000 gallons total. Part of the thinking is from previous experience I’m also going to eventually heat it, so less concerned re the total volume on heated water. Due to possible work commitments and uncertainty Persia, I’ve also gone with a liner (Circular box welded) which basically means I can finish everything with the liner the last thing to go in. Also to do with the construction as I can now get away with concrete commons as opposed to blocks, which are as as anyone who’s used them knows expensive and of course more difficult for a circular shape. The local merchant has seconds at 85 quid for 400 which seems a bit of a bargain with 1200 odd required.

Anyone any experience of box welded? Especially a circular one!

Nice one mate like looking at my pond build at the start of it.
My main pond is round. Same reason. The water circulates great for moving the crap.
Is that a nexus series. Or a 220 nexus.
As I have a 320 nexus with drop in draco.
And it is a good system. Fiber glassed Keep them photos
    Coming mate.
    Great progress so far.
I have never had a box weld liner. My old liner in a round pond was a normal liner.
No bottom drain. And lots of crease folds.
Can t wait to see this built.
Photo of my round pond lol

    Will this rain ever stop!

So after 24 hrs of heavy rain the bottom drain is even breached , it’s a frustrating wait

Well im on the last leg now. All the child labour has now vanished (worked to death) and at 55 I feel 75 . So in total 2200 bricks, 50 7n blocks, 3.5 tonnes of building sand, 1.5 tonnes of gravel, various rebar and 45 bags of cement later its nearly there. I just need one dry day to finish the brickwork, and yet again today heavy downpours . Im having a day off, few beers, watch United tank Bournemouth and grade the Showa for S and G. Then need to decide on a coping skim and line with Celotex. Ive just gone for 1 return (18" down) as its a giant vortex, and a small skimmer in the same position (one revolution later).

Question, would you have another return above ground so the fish arent always swimming in a current? Cant think there will be much slack water otherwise? (Im also going to put a nexus easy pod returned via a bakki shower on the skimmer line).

I have a large sheet which will cover your pond if you want it. Make a wigwam or something.
