Going bigger
Had a pond for about 10 years nothing special
I dug it to use a bit of dead space in the garden that wasnt used.
No idea what i was doing just decided one morning we need a pond.
The finished product years later.
It just never looked complete.
Pump fed to a pressure filter (fell for the sales patter).
Then upgraded to an easypod good bit of kit.
Its run well for years but just looks tired and trying to plant around it was pointless due to a nosey dog who while hanging out with his fish mates flattend every plant we put in.
So the plan was just to raise above ground with sleepers but having been let down with 3 different suppliers ive lost patience and decided to rip it all out and go for a block build gravity fed to nexus 200 I bought a few years ago.
Fed by bottom drain.
Bought a temp pond and began the strip down.
Todays job the dig made a start but god its hot.
Anyway bbq on and funny thing the beer fridge is fully but soon to have a few spaces available.
Onwards and upwards

Hi to all
Quick question to all - how long fish can stored in temporary tank or pool like that? Thanks

Using that pool should be fine its 600mm deep plenty of filtration and air when needed.
Though i dont expect it to be in use over winter.
Which could be an issue

In my case , it would be complicated rebuild and it could go through winter , although in East Anglia hardly ever we get temperature lower than zero during winter so maybe with filtration on , koi would be happy in it , it hard to to say unless someone tried that already on forum

Well its been a while with the lockdown and damaged ligaments in my ankle thing are now progressing.
Getting supplies was a challenge at first but got there in the end.
A few pics of the progress all my own work.
No bricky but im happy walls are plumb qnd level so cant ask for more than that.
Looking for advice on sealing the liner (box weld) to the window.
Whats the preferred method siting the window on the liner or fixing to the glass.
Ive cut a 60mm x 25mm rebate in the block work as didnt fancy just realying on the render to hold in place.
Thoughts appreciated

Looking good. You're at about the same stage as me.
I have my fish in a temporary swimming pool too. All going well, I should have them back into the new pond before the end of September. However, it did cross my mind that it could slip to next spring if things didn't go my way. I've seen people insulate around the sides with bubble wrap which I probably would have tried to keep heat in. Luckily we don't get very cold winters in Dublin and the last few have been very mild so I'm pretty sure they would be ok.

Method in the madness im already doubting whether ive gone big enough.
So the plan is now to run as is until next year and extend.
This keeps her who must be obeyed calm she want her garden back.
Though why its hers i dont know cant use a mower and would have a jungle of weeds if left to her.
Hope it clears it up.

It is but as most will probably mention big is never big enough.
Anyway an update now built filter house sorted just a little finishing off.
Water in and fish in.
Window didn't leak which was a bonus.
Had a couple of small leaks in the 110 pipework on the flexible joints stripped a couple of jubliee clips by over tightening luckily I had a few spares.
Copings and pergola left to build and decking.
Also render to paint.
A few picks added of progress.
