    New Build (Advice Greatly Appreciated!)

    So here we go.....

Basic materials/timber purchased to build a 1.9 m x 1.9 m x 1.5 m minimalist partly raised wooden sleeper pond with decking & boxed liner 1mm approx 4500 litres/1000 gallons. construction started so please no advice to change this part!

    So far my thinking is....

I have decided to go for a gravity feed filtration system with bottom sump,

Up for advise/discussion; for filtration most likely a Evolution Aqua Eazy Pod Air or a KLK 6000 Multi chamber koi pond filter?, a in line UV possibly Evo 25w UV?, a skimmer possibly a Kockney Koi Wide Mouth Surface Skimmer? a 10,000 variable rate pump?

    will add detail/photo's etc. shortly

    Simon.

I have two teenage boys in "lock down" they are my mini diggers lol!

*Picture dos'nt clearly show but already 200 mm dug down another 800 mm will be above deck level so only about 500 mm to dig

    Hi
Yeah Eazy Pod is my first choice. every view that agrees gives me more confidence.

KLK says their filter is now using aqwise moving media for 30% better performance than K1 media

more... I wonder if that could be used in the easy pod to increase filtration instead of K1?

    Cheers

    Size 3.6 m x 1.8 m
Depth to be decided 1.5 to 1.8m

Only heard about JBR on this forum and they replied quickly to an e mail and turned round my order very quick and reasonably priced.

So.... I'm leaning towards a simple minimalist gravity feed filtration system with a Bottom Drain Aerator, an Eazy Pod & a Surface Skimmer back to the pond via a UV to two below the water line TPR returns (albeit as my build is square, two tank connectors positioned on different walls to create a one directional water flow) My question for you experts is... Can I join the two 4" intakes for the bottom drain & the skimmer into one pipe to enter the Eazy Pod & run with only one pump? Is this suitable for 4500 Lt pond? or should I include a Bakki shower?

    Hi Slays,
I’m not an expert but I would imagine you would need to add ball valves to each of the inlets to enable you to balance the flow from the bd and skimmer.
4 inch ball valves are not cheap!
As for if you need a shower that is more related to how many and size of fish you stock.
The general advice on this forum tends to be the more filtration the better.
I think easy pods are more biased towards mechanical filtration so a Bakki shower is certainly one good option to consider. If budget allows
    Cheers

A digger doesn’t change the construction it just makes it easier.... I had taken a coarse that once framework is in place my team of myself and two teenage sons would make light work of it.... unfortunately my sons keep disappearing so I’ll have to dig it myself.... a mini digger was in hindsight great advice!!!

    New Build (Advice Greatly Appreciated!)

My build is a simple minimalist gravity feed filtration system with a Bottom Drain Aerator, an Eazy Pod & a Gravity Surface Skimmer (Oase AquaSkim Gravity) 4" solvent weld pipe out & then 1.5" pressure pipe back to the pond via a UV to a below the water line TPR return... My question for you experts is... Can I join the two 4" intakes from the bottom drain & the skimmer into one pipe to enter the Eazy Pod with only one isolating valve OR do I need to run both out of the pond with two isolating valve's before joining the flow into the Eazy pod?

Stopped digging down except for drainage, with raised this will give me over five foot depth. So now to dig the BD & Skimmer lines.... still perplexed about pipe work ... waste or pressure it would be nice to purchase a BD & pipe work bundle but £220!!!
