New Pond Extension
My current pond was built about 15 years ago and basically leaked from day one. 10 years ago we stopped using it then about 9 months ago I decided to try it again and guess what..............it still bloody leaked.
Anyway I am going to fix it once and for all, first of all we are going to extend it by about 9000 gallons so in total I will have a ~10000 gallon pond with about 35 medium to large Koi fish (I currently have 25). I have already excavated the extension installed a bottom drain and set the concrete slab yesterday. As for filtration I have been following Writly (Terrys Youtube channel from the UK) and built a 4 drum filtration system with K1 K3 and a netting first tank to take out any big crap. I will be using a 3/4 HP swimming pool pump that puts out 57 GPM for the filtration system and a 100 litre air pump for oxygenation. The pond is being built in Phuket Thailand so as for climate we are around the 28 to 33 C all year round.
Below are a few pictures of the progress

Getting there
Question. Once all the block work is finished we plan to render the whole of the pond with (crocodile cement) to give us a 100% waterproof pond.
I'm thinking of adding a black pigment to this cement layer so that it's finish is black rather cement grey also meaning that we do t need to paint the walls either.......what do you think?

I have now moved the fish into a temporary tanks while we knock the partition wall down and modify the old section. Problem I have is 25 fish in a 100 gallon tank. After the first night I checked the ammonia in the tank and it was 1.5, I did a 20% water change but that did little so I did a 70% water change and now I have it all in check. I have ordered SeaChem Prime from Bangkok that hopefully I will get on Monday or Tuesday, Until the I will keep checking the water and dilute as and when necessary.
I will post a picture of the pond after the crew go home

The job looks tidy and a nice shape as well.
Don't think I've come across anyone here who's sealed their pond using cement. It is normally liners or fibreglass.
Is it the protectcrete stuff you're using?

It will be getting rendered smooth including all the necessary slops leading the crap to the bottom drain with regular cement and then waterproofed with Crocodile Flex Shield Plus which is a non toxic waterproof skin https://swimmingpoolsthailand.com/en...ng-cement.html

That looks like good stuff.
I'm sure I've heard of the company as well, think they make really fast setting concrete for slab track on railways.... You can pour it and have trains running over it within a couple of hours.
The other thing to check is whether it leeches anything into the water that could affect water quality for koi.

Making good progress, nice shape as well, cant wait to see it finished, Are you just having the one bottom drain? I would be concerned on the flow from a single drain.

Yes we just have one bottom drain that in 3" ID.....fingers crossed its going to work out fine as this will gravity feed into a small pump suction tank below the level of the pond water and from that same tank my main filter pump will draw water into the filter system at ~60 GPM. My second filtration pump will draw water from about 6 inches below the surface of the water and supply my waterfall and jets via a swimming pool sand filter that will be fall of K3 media not sand.
Exciting days ahead

Here is my Swimming pool sand filter converted into a Bio Filter. This filter will be fed by a 1HP swimming pool pump that puts out about 70 GPM after passing through this media it will feed 3 or 4 (haven't decided yet) in pond jets that will hopefully push any crap in the shallow end down to the deep end bottom drain, they will also hopefully create some current in the pond as my Koi like moving water. It will also supply the waterfall.
The media is 25mm x 12mm and it has filled just over half of the inside of the filter, we will see how this works and if necessary we can add more media later.
