What colour light bulbs did you use to get that effect Mo.

Lighting done right can make things looks totally different and I think you've done really well there.

    Nice job

    Thanks,

the 4 lights in each corner are normal led, in the front i there are 6 spotlights with blue led bulbs, when i have cleared the back and sides and got some plants around the pond i am hoping to install a few more with different hues.

External lights are unquestionably easier to manage, but there are some advantages to my internal light bar even though it requires regular cleaning.

It works well with my windows during winter when I have the poly carb covers on, and because the lights are angled upwards from the shelf, the fish are able to avoid the glare when below the shelf - got to remember fish don’t have eye lids! The lights also illuminate the back wall of the filter house at night and create a fantastic shimmering display where they catch the moving water from the waterblade – obviously only when I don’t have the polycarbs on

To be honest, I haven’t found that the internal lights show up any more fines in the water than shining a torch in, so I’m not sure how much of a difference external would really make, but yes – lights do highlight the good and the bad in the pond!

Here are a couple of pics that show how great the fish look through the windows at night, and from above in winter shining through the covers, and the back wall I refer to above. My phone doesn’t take very good night time pics, but hopefully this gives you some idea of the effect

Well I think it sounds even more interesting and something I would like to include in my project, it really does look good, liking the idea of the polycarbs too !!

Are the light bulbs in the 4 spot lights GU10s? If so then you can buy Philips Hue WiFi LED versions of them that you can set the colours. You need a controller or bridge to make them work and if you have an Amazon Echo you can control it via that or via an app on your phone same applies to the bridge and an app. Not the cheapest but a good option. There are other options like Hive, Google home hub? etc etc which all work on a similar principle as long as your phone gets a good signal and your WiFi is good too.

For the Amazon Echo you need an Amazon Prime subscription to make it work.

I have a feeling you can also link a Ring doorbell to the same system? But I could be wrong on that so you'll need to check.

If you get the Philips Hue stuff and the Amazon Echo you can set routines so the lights come on a set times or dim down etc etc. There's loads of technical stuff you can do with them if that's your thing

i'm still reading up on it, the lights are expensive but the main issue is wifi signal, the pond being at the back of the garden there is no signal, maybe you might be able to use mobile data, i came across another bit of information from a outlet in London, they have similar led lights that you can control from your mobile, not a lot of info on the web page so i'm going to give them a visit on my next day off, technology is a scary thing, lol

Have we already discussed a wifi extender or not?

I have seen other wifi light bulbs that don't require a hub or bridge but are still wifi unfortunately

There is a system I looked at for a customer that worked off a radio signal or similar which from memory is called Wise. You get a controller fob that looks like the thing you have for your car and the range is something like 50m could be more as I only had a quick look before giving the brochure to the customer to pick what they wanted.

Have a look at this Mo, not the cheapest I know but could be your answer and even mentions water features plus 200 m range but that maybe just for a particular model.

Wise Box Receiver 4 Channel, 10 Amps / Circuit | Wireless Radio Technology

    There's loads of options
