What to use for benching the base?

    Afternoon,

I cocked up a bit when putting the BD in and pouring the slab. The BD is off centre and the slab finish is pretty rough so I think I'll need to bench the base to help. Pond will be fibre-glassed and BD is aerated The questions are what to use, concrete with small aggregate or screed, and how thin can/should I go to at the thinnest edge near the BD? I'm guessing at 50mm at the walls, down to 10mm near the BD?

    Cheers,

    Kris.

I think you will probably be better off with a screed, all the pressure on it is downward so key isn’t a major issue, any thinner than 10mm you will probably need a construction grout, but that will be hard to get a slope on

Personally id go with Concreting Sharp Sand/Cement 4:1 with SBR/water additive with fibres, you can knock it up semi dry and it will be easy to lay and alter, it wont bag down so you can get your falls, if you use an SBR/Water in equal measures with neat cement to act as the primer slurry over your concrete base and go over with your screed when the primer is still wet and tacky your get a perfect bond, you can actually bond render to glass in the same way, but you have to work on the primer slurry when tacky, if it goes off and you dont get on it your need to re slurry or you wont get a bond. ill try and attach or screen shot the tech spec. for you. im not sure how to do that yet !!
