Footing pour
Yet another question I can’t find an answer too.
I can’t get my hands on a concrete truck as I have no access to my back yard except through my house.
I’m considering setting up timbers for a frame and filling them up with dry cement, sand and aggregate mixing it up with a spade and then slowly pouring water on With a hose like you would for setting a fence post.
Is this ok to do?
Cheers

NOOOOOOOO
You need to mix the concrete properly, they do say you need to machine mix it for about 20 minutes to get the mix right, mix ratio is important to strength but the amount of water you add is what gives it its final strength,
I've seen people barrow concrete through the house before, just get plenty of plastic down, the other option is a concrete pump, I was quoted £200 for the pump when I did mine, but unfortunately I looked into it to late, 4 men and 4 barrows, between the house and the shed is only 700mm, less than a normal doorway
Another option is a cement mixer4600 Gallon Concrete Block and Fiberglass
2100 mm x 710 mm Infinity Window 32mm thick glass
2 x Aerated Bottom Drains and Skimmer

Bio Chamber - 140 litres K1

From truck to my house would be a wheelbarrow down a very sloped drive way, up 2 steps into my front door, down the hallway two turns into a kitchen, step over into my conservatory and a step down out of my conservatory into the garden and then a right hand turn off my concrete patio stepping down onto the grass and then a left turn to the pond...
I’ll be dead before I get like 20 wheelbarrows through on my own in lockdown lol
I can consider a cement mixer if I can find somewhere that will let me hire one where they drop off and take it back when I’m done... but even then not sure I’d get a decent sized one Through my house
Will a pump go 25m long and over a 10m high building?
If I get a pump I may aswell do a slab

Sounds challenging
A standard builders cement mixer will fit through your house, mines been in the house more times than I can remember, they also come to bits quite easily4600 Gallon Concrete Block and Fiberglass

Can you advise me how I calculate how much cement sand and aggregate I need for a certain m3 of concrete footing?
If I get a m3 worth of materials is it a m3 of concrete or does the water make the concrete expand?

As said. Rent/borrow a mixer or there are concrete trucks with extendable booms that pump it over your house. Both would work. Or just pay a builder with a mixer a days labour. They will be able to get the concrete cheaper than you too.

How much would be a reasonable amount to pay a builder for a concrete slab around 4m long 2m wide?

Yep, but they aint cheap.
Cheapest local I have is £320+vat for a line feed pump (runs about 50m max and is a 4-6 inch pipe laid across the floor with an operative at the end). The boom in this picture is the larger of 2 sizes available from the company we used, £750 for this bad boy..... Then concrete is on top!
I think you wanna be going down the mixer route!

Probably depends on where you are located mainly. My guess would be around £600

Ok definitely no slab then, just a footing and mixing myself. Hopefully a lot less concrete with just a footing

Ok currently working out the amount of blocks I need and concrete.
If I got a 75l mixer and I need 1440l of concrete for a footing will the concrete not start to dry by the time I fill the entire footing?

Yes it will start to dry, but you work away from your first mix, effectively keeping a wet edge at all times, so after your first mix, you next mix goes to the left of it, then the next one to the right, then left, then right, level as you go and keeping the wet edge, try to keep your mixes consistent and measure out your water if you are new to concreting

If I’m doing a footing the last piece needs to connect to the first piece or do you go left and right equally at the same time so you meet in the middle with the final barrow full? Sounds complicated lol
Is a footing 30cm wide 30cm deep enough for a 80cm high block wall with a window?

Appreciate your help. Do you think a footer 30cm wide 30cm deep is enough for a block wall 80cm high?

I will still need a concrete slab for the base though right?
Or can I just use sand?
