    New pond set up

    Hi all.
Newbie here. I've been on this forum browsing for a few weeks, trying to soak up information on my potential pond build. Lock down conditions have made it super difficult as obviously I can't go to a retailer to seek what I need to know. There's some extremely knowledgeable views on here... So go easy on me!!
I'm planning a raised brick/block pond measuring 3.8m x 2.7m x 1.35m deep. This will be just over 14000k litres (3099 gallons). From what I've managed to research for myself on here and via a few emails, I've decided on an aireated bottom drain gravity fed to a dracodrum solum 25, a dracodrum bio unit, surface skimmer, 55w UV, pumped into a pond return and a waterfall.
Would you say this is sufficient, and am I missing anything obvious that is needed?
I've looked into an auto top-up thru a de chlor unit, tho am struggling to get the feed to the pond. I'm guessing an auto top up is essential for a drum filter tho?
Sorry for so many questions, there's just so much I'm not sure of and want to sort before I contemplate putting a bucket in the ground.
    Many thanks, Gareth.

Hi Gareth and welcome to the forum,
I'm sure there'll be more along soon with more info. and hints/tips etc. - just thought I'd make the point that many Koi dealers remain open, as they're an essential service to maintain the health of livestock (or whatever the official governmental term is!)
I know my local dealer's open as I've dropped in there to buy some bits over the past few weeks ; )

    Hi Gareth
welcome sounds like you have been busy researching, there are few on here with draco drums hopefully they will see this and give you some feed back.
think I would be tempted to put a second bottom drain in though.

    Hi Gareth,
Similar size to mine which is 4 x 3 mtrs and 4 ft deep.
Can you not put in an in wall skimmer, not saying anything wrong with a surface one and go straight to the drum.
I have one drain and think I am on my limit with it,also have the Draco 25 which has drain and skimmer straight to it then to my own bio pumped to return.
Other drum outlet to another pump to shower to return, runs ok for me so yours will be similar.
On my wall skimmer I converted it to a 4ins which is easy so it pulls well to the drum.

Any questions ask away Gareth, where are you?
    John

Thanks for the replies and positive feedback. Yes John theres nothing stopping me from putting the skimmer in the wall at all. Also when you say your own bio filter, is that something like a barrel full of K1? Sorry if that's a stupid question.
