Well I always chose the Arched window on play school. Took a lot of time searching the Internet till we found the perfect mirror for the space in the garden . Very effective and adds another feature to the garden.

Patio in front of the pond finished with seat in place for viewing the fish.

Rendering of the front of the pond , saw lots of different options but in the end decided a straight forward render was the choice.

The render was then painted black and the window finished off with a hardwood sill.

Garden and pond, both look amazing.

I need to motivate myself to get cracking with my pond. My dining room is full of filters and pipe work, needless to say the wife isn’t happy about that!

Yes they do tend to moan when pipework and fittings are carefully placed in position on the lounge carpet.

Getting the garden all fixed has made it like an extra room .

Jumpguards and fishing line added round the pond and at high level. I hate nets and its amazing how the fishing wire just does not affect the view.

Last part is to finish off the filter housing , hoping to be able to be able to fit a sliding electric roof !!

    That looks great!

You've clearly been putting some serious graft in to get all of that done.

    I like the nature pond.

I spent many an hour as a little un hunting for frogs and newts in the garden. But my garden is so small, and the koi pond takes up so much space already, it think my garden would be more pond than garden if I put a nature pond in as well.

I remember going fishing with nets for sticklebacks in a small stream when I was a youngster.
Used to bring them home in a glass jar and my mum used to make me take them back the next day and release them.

I do love it when you get all the small frogs jumping around .

I must admit , my graft is very much in the thinking and working out what needs to be done and making the decisions.
I have a brilliant general builder who can turn his hand to anything and never done a pond like this before and has done a lot of the actual building work whilst I have loaded the mixer, carried the bricks through and made the coffees and bacon and sausage sandwiches. Been a big learning curve and got lots of ideas off threads on this site.
One thing I was lucky with , was that I didn't set a timescale .

Have 9 koi ( from 25 to 60cm) and four goldfish and will look to add three or four more koi next year, but will wait till I see ones I want.

That looks awesome Gareme, I am pleased you showed the work on the slabs etc too, for me that is all part and parcel of the pond experience, what a splendid place to have to sit

Looking forward to next spring already. I'm an early riser and off to work early so I'm leaving before it's light at present. In the summer can spend half an hour with them before leaving.

Evenings with a glass of wine are great aswell.

The work round the pond has really made it so much better than the old set up .

Absolutely! I leave for the gym before work at 6:45, nothing better than having breakfast and a coffee before your day with your koi.

    Roll on spring!
