Leaking Pond - near glass front

    Hello all,

I would greatly appreciate some advice! My pond has recently started to leak near somewhere around the glass front or side (I believe).

    (Please see attached pics)

The pond is constructed with a concrete surround lined by a pond liner. It was a bit of a DIY build many years ago by a former builder and it doesn't have a drainage. I basically need to pump the water out to empty it.

Now, any advice would be very welcome to determine how I can spot where the leak is coming from and fix it. As you can see from the pics, I'm a bit concerned that the leak may affect the concrete surround. I've never fixed a leaky pond before so very grateful for advice!

    Many thanks in advance

    Hi mate,

how much water are you losing and do you know from the wet patches whether this is high up or low down in the pond?

if you are sure it’s the window, could you pump some of the pond water to external pools, reseal the window and return the water when the sealant has dried?

only use a good quality sealant though.

    cheers

    Thank you for the response

This has to be lower down in the pond as I've drained it to about half way and it is still leaking. I think it's near the window as that is where I can see the water outside. I don't know whether I could apply sealant to the outside of the glass trim to stop it leaking?

It probably leaking about 300ml per day (rough estimate)

Give it a try mate and see if you still lose water. The issue may become the water no longer leaks out from the window but gets/leaks between the liner and structure. You will soon see though.

    cheers

What i would do first is let the pond drop until the water level stops dropping then you now your starting point

Yep that’s what I’d do, you can then take a detailed look just above the static waterline to try and find the culprit..good luck!

let it find its leak point by giving it time, fill a little and see if it returns to same point, I had one that looked like the mid way up the window, but it was near the base of it, a small channel was obvious when it had dropped, cur out a v notch on inside in the seal and reapplied and sorted it.
