Have a look at wrighty on youtube. look for the older videos of him digging his pond. It gives a good account. Start to finish. There's 5 parts. Here is part 1:

Ive been watching those. When I see videos like that of the sides of the pond dug out. It makes me think I have a completely different type of ground!
I was having red clay bricks fall out the walls of my pond and rocks leaving holes. Big chunks of clay falling away from the sides.
If this happens when I dig this new pond what can I do?

Pack it back in with a good boot get some insulation boards put up and ready the liner and hose that's what I did

You'll need to dig the hole then assess everything. If you can't do what AJM suggests, Sounds like you could block work right from the base of your pond. Or don't have straight sides dig a bowl shape out. This type if issue affects how you build your pond and is the reason there are 100 different ways to build a pond. 1 issue identified 99 to go. Read though 30 builds and you'll probably find most of it is covered. Then ask supplementary questions. You'll get there. But one step at at a time.

If I use insulation boards and there are some slight holes behind the insulation is the insulation going to crack under pressure of water?

I havnt started yet and the location I will put the pond is currently covered in old decking. The ground can’t be seen.
I’m doing my research reading thousands of posts and videos first as I don’t want to dig a pond just because I want a pond like I did last time and end up with a pond infested in tons of sludge at the bottom

Right another question for you guys.
If I was to use a nexus and a drop in draco drum what would be the actual difference to me just using a barrel filled with k1 media with a draco drum?
The nexus has a vortex filter which looks like it’s completely negated by the drop in drum?

... Not alot. Put a tap on the bottom of the drum and they can clean the same way.
Nexus has the bonus of using static k1 for mechanical and moving k1 for bio. I just use two tubs.2660 Gallons. 4" Bottom Drain and Skimmer. Draco Solum 16 Drum. Anoxic Filtration. Air lift returns.

Great thanks. So If I buy a draco drum I can plumb that into a barrel full of k1 media? Would this give crystal clear water?

Depends on lots of factors. Size of pond. Bio load (how many fish), etc. But yes, a bottom drain, a drum and then some bio is good. A skimmer and A UV would be fairly standard kit too.

Less oppressive questioning.
I joke, but Seriously. No one can tell you exactly what to do at every step. It's mainly down to budget and then personal preference. You have to do the legwork. Use the internet, Youtube, read through the wealth of information on this forum. Research the components that interest you and decide what your preference is.
We can only chime in with our personal experiences.2660 Gallons. 4" Bottom Drain and Skimmer. Draco Solum 16 Drum. Anoxic Filtration. Air lift returns.

No nexus 320 I bought with draco. Came with one bag. About 75 lts. You have to buy a hell of a lot more. I built up to 300 lts
Over a year with helx and k1 mix.
That all goes in the outer chamber. With lots of air to move it a about. A moving bed.

Yeah I’ve been reading tons of information. And it’s just information overload.
I had hoped to move the pond to other side of garden but not getting it past the wife.
So now I’ve been out today marking out the pond and how I am gonna raise it and I’ve just got problem after problem. I don’t see how you can make a concrete form for the concrete collar when you’ve already dug out the pond. The concrete is just gonna fall into the hole.

If I were building a pond now (you learn a lot after a couple of ponds lol) and wanted to be “cheap” I’d definitely budget for a drum 100% then save money by building a big old shower from 3 or 4 those stacking moving crates (the ones that are a meter long) and fill it with alfagrog.
Add an IBC with some kind of plastic media, K1 or a knockoff and you’d be good to go.
Couple of variable speed pumps, 30k over the shower and a 20k through the bio or lose the 20k and run air lifts.
Stick an amalgam 40w UV and you’d be running a pond for probably 200w all in with airlifts, maybe less.

Running heater at low temp?
Covering the pond with polycarb should be enough to stop water temps dipping below 6C for the most...
