Thoroughly recommend added SBR into the mortar, I walk on my slate copings if I need to add bicarb to the pond (returns are far side) and doesn’t move at all

So finally got my butt in gear. The 110mm returns are now laid along with the 32mm bottom drain air pipe. You can see the two 32mm airlift pipes and the 2" waterfall pipe already laid. Been dreading laying these as they were complex to lay - going in at an angle then having to clip into the rear pipe clips for the verticals. Compounding is the weight of a section that size with a 90 and a second piece of pipe connected to set right.
There's at least an inch of pipe in the large connectors btw (the line is a reference point).

Tomorrow the upper set of inlets are laid and I can start backfilling the returns after a quick test.
Managed to scratch my leg up nicely on the concrete when the slab bottom right decided to fall in. Hey hum.14000l, my mutts: Chargoi (2010), Doitsu (2022), Tancho (2022), Kujaku (2022), Hi Utusri (2022)

Outside pipes completed and current filled with water..

Inside done, other than tops of pipes - the next step is backfill and concrete supports:

Sample arrived - first a photo to show the top texture, and then the real colour:

Next some shots on the pond wall:

I've just been back-filling inside and out - I should have that finished today. I still have a load of sand lol.. but I think I will probably wet down the area so that the sand beds down a little more.
Going to sleep well tonight!14000l, my mutts: Chargoi (2010), Doitsu (2022), Tancho (2022), Kujaku (2022), Hi Utusri (2022)

30mm. I figure as the wall is 'sitting' height once completely backfilled, that the extra thickness would prevent any from cracking on the overhang. I've seen some recommendations for a 2" overhang both sides but I will probably only be overhanging approx/less than an inch.
I was thinking of applying a couple of different ones an seeing what came up best - probably G4 given it's known and works on slate. There are others but how safe they are for fish is anyone's guess. At least with G4 you know you need to give them wash down after.14000l, my mutts: Chargoi (2010), Doitsu (2022), Tancho (2022), Kujaku (2022), Hi Utusri (2022)

How big are the pieces going to be Nick? or are they going to be in long lengths?
I did mine in 30mm Honed Bon Accord in whole lengths I think it gives a much cleaner look than grout joints.
I did a 25 mm overhang, it all depends on what look you want sometimes more looks good and vice versa.
This gives you some idea.

Given the design there will not be 90 degree bends. For the joints I will probably go with sealant joints. Under the slates will be concrete and SBR.

I have no overhang on the inside of mine, to me that was one more area the fish can not damage themselves on if thrashing about at all

So I've ordered 12x PU sealant/adhesive - better to have that amount available for use when doing the window than finding I'm short. It will also allow me to fit the shim ahead of time. Next.. to phone up and get an update on the window order
Delivery next Wednesday
Now I have the fun organising the manpower..14000l, my mutts: Chargoi (2010), Doitsu (2022), Tancho (2022), Kujaku (2022), Hi Utusri (2022)

So it looks good for manpower but there's some complications - people after work
So the option here is to hire a plate glass trolley (£75/week) then have two/three people do a controlled drop into the trolley. Move to a safe location and then later in the evening manhandle the glass into position and bond.
Jobs for today are - sort out the shim for a flat edge for the glass and start making space for the window move next week given I have a duff back at the moment.
I also want to finish off some backfill and recycle some paving stones so I can put a plastic sheet down and into the drain and put some bondant into the bottom drain around the base and the fg/plastic (this is bonded but a second defence) when the stuff arrives today.14000l, my mutts: Chargoi (2010), Doitsu (2022), Tancho (2022), Kujaku (2022), Hi Utusri (2022)

So I had a quick seal with the PU sealant - there's a couple of spots I wanted covered in the BD and elsewhere.
A should make a big mention about sealant/chaulking guns. Never bother with the metal riveted type - they're cheap but ****. The rivets fail (I've had one fall apart with a stiff canister with hand pressure) and they are shoddy. Instead of spending £££ on a powered one simply get a good one - https://www.dickiedyer.com/en-GB/PLU...EALANTS/536534 this I've had for over 5 years, and it has all you need on a gun - piercing lance (can unblock too), a easy stop and a separate switch to enable or disable the squeeze triggering. It also out performs the metal ones and works well with the sealant tubes. It takes normal sized tubes (not the oversized Pollyfiller 'professional' ones that are too long for any normal gun). It may be 'plastic' but it will outperform in smoothness any of the metal guns and has been dropped many times. Cost for this marvel - £10.
And the auto marine sealer/adhesive is great.14000l, my mutts: Chargoi (2010), Doitsu (2022), Tancho (2022), Kujaku (2022), Hi Utusri (2022)

It was empty in the BD yesterday.. we had a bit of rain overnight... that's the drip through from the second tarp! That includes filling the BD, the 110mm filter pipe and what you see. I'm glad I got the PU sealant on before that. Taken a photo.. I'll use this to test for leaks in the fg
Still keeping the wall tops dry until the coping stones are on and the window in..14000l, my mutts: Chargoi (2010), Doitsu (2022), Tancho (2022), Kujaku (2022), Hi Utusri (2022)

So the mirror is to arrive tomorrow in the late afternoon slot (3-5pm).
We have had dire weather here, masses of rain and wind. The rain managed to crack the tar support beams . So I had to jerry-rig a plastic sheet to the drain. Once the window is in.. I may use plastic and blocks to cover the top of the wall. Literally that is the only piece that needs protecting. The good news is my back is feeling better following the French rollercoaster injury.
I'll probably need something to keep the window from rattling the window - I may make reuse the tarp support beams to jam the window from behind. That way it's not going anywhere.
I'll order the slate tomorrow - there's going to be a delay anyway for that. And I will not be able to fill the pond as it will need a clean.
I have to order a skip too soon - that will be the interim job.. a week of moving earth to sort the garden. That way I will have some garden space back.
The garage is basically ready for the filter - only a couple of air lines and return pipe height to be solvent glued. The 110mm valves are glued in place.14000l, my mutts: Chargoi (2010), Doitsu (2022), Tancho (2022), Kujaku (2022), Hi Utusri (2022)

that looks a decent mastic gun,
i've kept thinking about getting a powered one, when i've done a lot of caulking with my 20 year old dow corning gun....
especially when i emptied half a dozen tubes in 3 minutes for the pond window.
that crippled my fingers, even after heating the PU sealant up in a bucket...
but i've s
