i have a 5000 gallon pond with only one bottom drain and wished id installed a 2nd, so definitely have 2.
Im not too sure on the pull distance of a bottom drain but i would have thought 6 to 8 foot radius would be possible, so install your drains with that in mind
For the size pond youre thinking of i would have a nexus on each bottom drain
Alternatively for the price you'd pay for 2 nexus why not have drum into a bio chamber combination

On my 5000 gallon pond im running an Aquadyne 4.4 bead filter which is capable of filtering a 12000 gallon pond.
My water is swimming pool clear
Always over filter your pond and over aerate it too
Dont buy 1 large air pump buy several smaller ones, if one fails the others will keep your pond water aerated

There is no such thing as a stupid question.... Not on this forum

We all had to start somewhere .

Going straight in with the top end stuff, but if your budget can cover something like this then you've got all your filter equipment sorted in one go, with proven reliability and minimal maintenance and crystal clear water all year round:

There are loads of options to suit budget, aesthetics and space. Most members have differing set ups, experiences and preferences. Many would also start differently if they had their time again (it took me 3 goes on my show pond!!)

Happy to help with advice and product knowledge of needed.

    Cheers

Dave, what your location and maybe worth visiting a few ponds.
See their filter set ups and get an idea of the every day usage pros and cons of their filter system.

Ive got 5300g and if your thinking 2 x 320s i would go drum.as for bd spacing just split pond into sections.draw shape on paper and 1 bd will pull from 6ft away so a 12ft circumferance.if you measure 6ft in from each end thats a rough guide. You could feed both bd into 1 drum then have 1 outlet to shower and other through a bio chamber and split returns underwater for flow.....andi

Just remember that if you run 2 drains into one filter they need to be equal lengths to ensure even flow. So consider that in your planning. Equal amounts of pipe and fittings on each leg.

https://www.koi-zone.co.uk/FILTREAU-COMBI-NEXT this will do 10000g max,and you can push 6600g through it at full flow and its £600 cheaper than 2 nexus 320's although you will need some media for it, 8 x 25ltr bags of helix-13 will cost you £360 from same place so still £240 cheaper than 2 nexus, you could get a 20k variflo pump for that,,,,,andi
