Indoor/Garage raised sleeper pond
Hi new to the forum. after a bit of advice. Thinking of making a indoor pond in the garage for growing on and quarantine .Dimensions would be approx 2.4mx2mx1.2 deep. None of the pond will be below ground. approx 1250 gallons. Garage floor is perfectley flat and sound. Thinking of laying sleepers flat directly onto the garage floor and building up from there.
Would tie the sleepers together with long sleeper screws and rebar through the sleepers.
Would preferably rebar into the concrete floor but its impossible to drill into even with a massive masonary drill type affair.
Would the structure be strong enough to hold the water with the sleepers laid on the floor as above?
once the intial structure is built it will be lined with insulation and a box weld liner.
any thoughts on this initial bit would be great, cheers

I put a 750g fibreglass quarantine tank on a suspended floor in a garage and it’s been ok for the last year. Did have me worried though. Hopefully your base is solid to work with.
Regarding the sleeper construction, tying them together with rebar is a good idea, I wouldn’t rely on sleeper screws alone with the outward water pressure. Remember to put a bar down the corners too otherwise the sides may splay outwards.
Have recently built 150m of sleeper fencing and 90m of sleeper raised bedding and a 8m x 2.5m sleeper outbuilding using a mixture of half lap, mitre and tenon joins. Planning on making a couple of garden structures from some of the left overs too. Can you tell I accidentally over-ordered on the sleeper quantity??!!! 😀

On another note, try and ensure there is plenty of natural light in there

What’s the thinking with the sleepers why not build it out of timber fame and clad it, ply the inside with insulation underneath and in the sides.
you will find easy to pop a small bottom drain in as well.

Yes I just don’t understand her, I could even build a small ramp so I don’t damage the door threshold.
The pond well bloody money pit she thinks, not that cloths and so much make up etc isn’t a waste of money lol

Handbags, shoes and then the cloths. Not quite sure what they need it all for if they are in the kitchen
