    Insulation for 40mm /1.5” pipe

How are you guys insulating your pipe work?

I have seen this Climaflex it is a foam (polyethylene) but wondered if there is anything else out there that offers better performance

climaflex isn't very good as it's not very flexible compared to armaflex,
also climaflex isn't UV rated and will quickly perish when exposed to weathering outside.

you can get UV stable armaflex type lagging for nearly the same price as climaflex.
btw armaflex is just a premium brand name for nitrile rubber insulation,
lots of other manufactureres out there and the insulation is the same.

i got mine from here it's a good price, and free next day delivery (over £50) was spot on.
    42mm x 9mm x 2mtrs is £2.32 and it is self adhesive along it's length.
but i'd go for a thicker insulation as 9mm has limited thermal resistance.
    i went for 25mm thick.

I like that they offer different wall thicknesses

How about 110mm? What are you using

i'd imagine 110mm would be expensive just due to physical size.
nitrile rubber is very flexible though, so you might get away with joining 2 lengths of 54mm together. in two half's?

    110mm is roughly 345mm circumference 2 x 54mm =340mm circumference.
so might be a bit tight.
but you would need to wind wrap it in tape as well to hold it together i would think.

I’ll have a think on the 110mm it’s only very short lengths above ground.

Dave got in there first with recommending JTM.
you could use a foil bubble wrap around the 4"
A couple of wraps would be good insulation, hold it with insulating tape or nylon tie straps.
You can pick up a 600mm roll for a few quid
