    Black 8mm air hose

Looking for some reasonable priced 8mm black airline I have seen EA do a sinking one at around £8 pm but I’m sure there must be a cheaper decent alternative?

I am going to use workshop compressor hose. It sinks ( I'm told) and is very cheap at £1 a metre.

Or HGV rigid air lines. Dirt cheap. Dunno if they float tho, but good for rest of system.

Yes its fine. Lots of people use it. Just cut off just before the metal compression fittings.
I've seen both They look 100% identical. I wouldn't be surprised if EA are buying the same stuff on the reel and applying Koi tax.

I think wrighty on youtube bought some and mentioned it in one of his videos after it was recommended to him. I'll pinch a foot or so from work and chuck it in a bucket. It's literally sink or float then we know.

The Pondguru youtube guy uses it too. Apparently you should soak it in warm water first, just to make sure there is no residue from any manufacturing processes. If the water smells then repeat until it stops. But that is precautionary, and applies to the EA hose too.

You want rubber not upvc. Upvc is reinforced pvc the same as what a garden hose is made of. The rubber is much better quality.

I bought a whole coil of air hose from eBay.
Exactly the same manufacturers printed data on the side
That I've seen in koi dealers.
I'll see if I can dig out the link...

    Perfect.
PVC or rubber then. Sounds like both will work.
This one fits the bill at £5.22 for 5m with 2 clips.

The sinking air line material is pvc VN 50351, it's more dense and when made it has a thicker wall thickness, and defo sinks and it stays flexible unlike pvc material VT 744/6 which is semi rigid. And VT 795 is almost rigid.
