Window or no window..
Afternoon all,
I've pretty much made my mind up on the up and coming pond build having spent nearly a year planning it.... The only thing I am not sure of is whether to incorporate a window or not. My budget allows for a window with the pond being fibre glassed. Although I am not entirely sure I want a window, I'm 50/50 on the idea. If i didn't go down the window route the build will be about a grand cheaper but as said I have the funds to allow for a window.
I guess my main concern is the bloody thing cracking and flooding my garden my pub shed and the neighbours gardens lol
So the questions are if you were building a new pond would you fit a window or not and why?
Cheers all
Jay

I have a raised patio and the window won't be in view from the house, due to the pond location and garden layout. I will however be able to see the window from my patio beer drinking position, so not all is lost!
I guess it's just a nagging feeling that it's a weak point in the build...

Agree with Andi and AJ.
Yes from me to.
Some of my fish because of 2 x windows
I have saved from illnesses because of spotting the problems. Because of windows.
Also now in winter I can still see the fish.
With my cover on.
One of my windows is atlantica 4 sided window. It has lugs on and steel rods through it. Strong as hell.
My other window infinity window. Is concreted in and where there was gaps we used expanding foam then fiber glassed.
Solid.

Definitely go for a window .....and don't forget the bigger the better as it will illuminate the rest of the pond as it lets in so much light ...i upgraded mine from 1m wide to 2.4m W x 70cm H

I went for a window, unless your having a huge window it shouldn't cost you an extra grand. Assuming your building with blocks and insulating you just need to cut the insulation out inside the gap for the window around 10cm all round then once its fibreglassed it will slot in perfectly if all measured correct and held in place with several tubes of sealant. I used CT1. My window was £300 plus delivery custom made to size which was 1800mm x 670mm x 25.5mm thick of toughened, laminated glass from https://aurello.co.uk/product/pond-window-glass/ these guys. Took about a month to arrive as custom made size but was the cheapest company I found by a fair wedge.

Cheers Samp,
The grand was fibreglass plus window. If I didn't get a window it would have just been the cost of the box weld liner.
I will look into a custom window as the standard ones do appear small. Cheers for the tips on the insulation too mate.
