Finally have the majority of the pipework now which arrived today. Have started plumbing the drum in although didn't get too far today as started around 1pm and it still hadn't drained down to the point of where I need it to be before dark! Managed to move my filter around though and make the space to stick the shelf in for the drum tomorrow so hopefully will get the majority if not all done tomorrow! Only down side is my bio is now probably dry so will be dead I guess but no way of helping that with nowhere to put it submerged in pond water.

unfortunately not, plus I wouldn't be able to move the filter cause it weighs so much! Hard enough without water in with the Bio! Time to crack on!

Another update, main BD-drum-roto gravity shower-pump-returns line is complete although not got the water supply to the drum nor the electricity side of it done as of yet. Got the tank connector in place today for the surface skimmer, need more 3" waste pipe though so can't finish that yet. Also need some 3" pipe clampss to support the skimmer line as it has about 1.75m to travel from the skimmer to the drum inlet and only have the 4" sized clamps. Least the CT1 has a decent amount of time to go off now anyway! Things are finally coming together at last!

So I have my outside tap, but I want to run MPDE underground and into the filter bay to connect to the drum. I need some sort of T to put between the tap and the supply so I can still have a tap and also have the water running through the MDPE, does anyone know what this T looks like or is it just the same sort of one you would find behind a washing machine etc with the little blue tap?
My other questions I have good pressure from the tap which I would need to maintain for the efficiency of the drum and obviously a normal long hose pipe doesn't provide this but I am thinking will I be better to run the wider MDPE pipe like 32mm for better pressure or will 20mm or 25mm be sufficient? The plan would be to run the MPDE into the filter bay then have a hose tape or whatever at the end with a short length of hose to the drum.
Also, as I am running the solenoid system rather than pressure pump on the drum, this means the water is simply sprayed into the waste chute more or less so will not effect the pond depth at all. Would it be a waste to run this through my big blue? I am thinking I would just use the big blue for the water changes rather than messing about running the drum water feed through it and effectively cleaning water that is going down the drain.
Thanks in advance!

I already have the hose splitter so I will run it off that, thanks again Dave, I should have just addressed the post to you really as I knew you'd be my saviour once again! It will be running about 7m of pipe in total, its a shame everywhere seems to only do 25m lengths!Last edited by samp09; 04-01-2022 at 02:03 PM.

A little update, managed to finish the drain pipework from the drain. Makes a huge difference when draining the pond thats for sure, close the BD to drum line, open the purge valve and whoosh!
Lowered the filter and raised the drum today, my flow is better now but still needs a bit more of a drop to get the pump running full wack. Can run it about 70% on a 20k dm vario currently. No patio yet but more bits done to get towards the goal!

It's been a while so I thought I would add a few update pictures from December to now.

Sorry the picture has rotated but this is the drain being put in running straight from the waste off the drum and so I could add a purge to the BD.

And again annoyingly. This was back in December, the shape for the patio was dug and compacted with sub base.

Then the sleepers went in and were treated with the all natural wood treatment as John recommended.

Patio drainage added, you can see the colour of the sleepers after a few weeks of maturing as the colour changes. They were almost black after the initial coating, my missus was not pleased!

And where we are more or less now. Although spent an hour today mixing some concrete to lay along the pipe and in the hole surrounding where it goes in the filter bay so when the pipe is covered with sub base, it can't sag in the middle from the weight meaning water can collect.
Next job is to stick another drain in along the wall by the door to the left of the picture and plumb into the pipe somehow, will probably use a smaller diameter pipe for that area and then once that's complete, its a case of levelling the sub base the final time and compacting then laying the patio finally!
I will need a bung for the drains as when I purged the bottom drain the other day, all the crap came flying out in the drain thats currently fitted, we are talking a mixture of algae, dead blanketweed and fish crap and it still stinks!! Obviously the force is huge and thats the least resistance route so will have to remember to block them both when its finished.
Every day feeding container?
Good shout, I'll have a look at Takazumi :)
