Haha, the strangest thing with this was the the location where it was found in relevance to the garden, basically it was in the middle of the far end of the pond from the filter bay, so literally just in the middle of the garden! I relocated all the bones together to another part of the garden so the poor hound can rest in peace. It did mean I had no option but to extend the pond a bit longer I also found a cat in the filter bay end. Don't plan to dig anything else out there thought god knows what it'll be next

Little update today, Put two concrete footings in for the wall around the filter bay so time for that mature now. God knows why I didn't do this in the first place but I just wanted to get the main build sorted and running then focus on the tidying up after so to speak. Also used some of the foil bubble wrap looking insulation to wrap around the pipework that will be on the outside of the pond whilst the temps still ok before winter hits properly. Think I have found the finish I am going to go for over the weekend too which is another thing off the list.

Originally I planned to finish things in spring when the weather was better and warmer but to be honest the weather isn't exactly cold at the moment so may do it through the winter so its all done for spring and I can enjoy the pond in the warmer weather not have to work on it every day.

hi buddy, and welcome to the forum. I used metal rebar mesh in the bottom with about a 20cm concrete base poured over the top. I believe I have put a picture of this in the beginning of the post

I’d strongly recommend a decent poured concrete base with rebar / metal mesh.

That’s a nice and tidy job you’ve done there, well done! Fair play to you for pulling out all that soil by hand (with a shovel I assume!) and without hardly any mess.

Managed to get most of the tiling done recently as well as the coping stones. Not much more to do on the outside of the pond, other than the filter pit!

If you haven't brought them already, I got mine from https://marble-mosaics.com/split-fac...tiles-44-c.asp they are £26.99 per SQM as opposed to £50 odd per 1/2 SQM from marshals at places like travis Perkins, wickes etc and had no issues with mine. I ordered 7 SQM in case and as it stands I have enough loose to finish the job and 5 unopened boxes left. I have looked at bare blocks since august and cannot get over how incredible the pond looks now with tiles on, as I look out the French doors typing this, the side finished is separated by the door frame in the middle to the unfinished part, so I am closing one eye and pretending its all finished
