Pond netting
HI
I have just bought and started to install a new pond netting to be fitted onto the copings using stainless steel fixing rings and some stainless steel tension wires
Whats happening is its still sagging into the pond between the wire tension ropes
Im sure a lot of ponds i have seen have this problem, would it cause any harm to the koi rubbing on the netting ?
Thanks
Mark

If you've laid your wires front to back or side to side., Perhaps add another wire or two across the pond the opposite way to make a wire grid before putting the net over the top?

Add a hook in each corner and you will be able to tension the whole net, you don't want it sagging in the water if gets coverd in crap and stinks, it's the only way I could get it clear of water, I used paracord instead of wire the hooks allow for precise tension using the mesh

Do you have a roof over your pond ? you could fix and hang a piece of clear fishing line and hold the net off the water where it sags, cheers Steve.

My netting above the pond is approx 900 mm high in the centre it fluctuates between 900 and 800mm due to weather conditions, when its hot and sunny its high when its damp and wet it sags. This is tensioned and even on dry days in the morning it sags because of dew. It doesn't help when the doves sit on it to sunbathe rather than the lawn but hey ho they are happy. Mine is the string type netting for pond s.
Is their anyway you could fit 2 uprights with a fishing line to centre like a suspension bridge. Wont look great but hopefully only have to be approx 12" higher at either side, maybe hide in bushes/plants.When I’m dead I hope my Mrs doesn’t sell my fishing gear for what I told her they cost!

Hi Mark,
I had exactly the same problem trying to net my pond to stop the heron's wreaking havoc I'm not sure what shape or size your pond is, but if like mine it is has straight sides then you may be interested in my solution.
I wanted a way to completely net the pond, including the infinity window areas, but in such a way that is was easy to lift to feed, or remove if I wanted to sit out and enjoy the fish or do maintenance, and easy to store down the side of the shed over winter when I put my polycarb covers on. It needed to be heavy enough not to blow away or sag with rain or snow, but light enough for me to take on and off by myself (being a weedy girly with bad joints!).
So I created 3 sectional frames using cut to length 6082 5/8" aluminium tube within 20mm Heavy Duty Conduit, jointed with inspection bends and tees, secured with black amalgamating tape (so easy to take apart if necessary), withbutterfly nettingcable tied to the frame. Total cost for my 4m x 2.5m pond was about £100, but it's lasted two years so far and looks pretty smart.
Hope this is helpful
