They are in their new home
I've got the skimmer still to cut in and seal then I'll get the water level topped up.
I've got some seriously green water at the mo. Any tips to help with this would be great. I've been out and tested the Ph, Ammonia, nitrates, nitrites, acid and hard water. All coming back fine. I've just changed the UV and I'm cleaning filters twice a day at the moment.
Next steps are to build the drum filter, moving bed and shower. I just can't afford any of the solutions on the market and truly believe I can make all of them myself so I'm going to have a go at it. In the meantime I'll have to continue using my Oase submersible pumps and small filter boxes.
My mrs and the kids absolutely love the window and once we've finished the garden this will be our main feature in the patio area.
Unfortunately, I will have to wait to render or tile the outside but will get the coping stones on top ASAP.
My boy was a great help and got in the old pond and stayed out until 10pm catching them all. He was so happy.

If the water is getting greener, then the UV is not doing its job. What is the pond volume and what size is the UV?

Yeah, you are right. I've got 2x 24 watt running but max per unit I can go to is 36. I'm changing the whole filtration soon as its got a bottom drain fitted. I'm going to try and build a drum filter. Dreading it but cannot stretch to the prices of any of the decent brands at the moment. They seem hideously over priced.

Good luck with the pond and enjoy.
Kids look as though they love it.
I know my grand children do.
And good luck with the drum build. Your spot on they are way over priced.

Hi,
Yeah they really love it. My youngest does all the feeds with me. She's really in touch with nature.
I'm still at the planning stage with the drum filter and currently pricing up components. I'm using stainless steel where I can and waiting on pricing back regarding boxes.
I'm hoping to start putting something together in the next few weeks. The fish are happy and the water is good. Just need the algae to disappear now.

Running heater at low temp?
Covering the pond with polycarb should be enough to stop water temps dipping below 6C for the most...
