I like your pond build. Don't like the grass edging. Boulders with plants would look very effective.
Good pond. Them water butts I have the same ones with jap Matt and grogg. On my 500gallon grow on QT. They do the job.
    Like the waterfall
    Lovely ochiba.

Thanks for all the comments, it was hard work last year so really looking forward to reaping the rewards this spring/summer. It is by no means the finished product just waiting for warmer weather to start planting around really, want to get a balance of natural looking without spoiling the view of Koi. I appreciate all of your input regarding the turf, we will see how it goes and see if we can make it look the way we want it to.

I estimate the pond to be about 5000 gallons, though its not exactly a standard shape so could be a bit either way of that.

The Ochiba is my dads and he bought it a few years ago for £10 it was about 3" iirc

We have already gone halves on a new fish, this Ginrin Tancho Showa from Gatwick Koi, though it won't be going in until spring time as we are not heated.

Been looking at that Tancho Showa myself....Not to buy it, but have been looking at loads to compare them to my baby one.

You've bagged yourself a good looking Koi there, and worth the money too.

Wasn't familiar with the breeder Sakuma until seeing a lot of his Showa for sale at various Dealers this year so I guess he had a good breeding season last year!

You can't go wrong buying from Gatwick Koi either, top notch quarantine. Never had the slightest health issue with any Koi I've bought from him. Except they can be skinny when you pick them up (fed sparingly to keep water quality good I guess), but soon fatten up once you start chucking the food in.

We're only 20mins up the a23 from Gary and have been going there last couple of years, only bought a couple of fish in that time but will be looking to buy plenty more now. There is always a big selection on the website and fair prices and as you say the quarantine procedure is exactly what you'd want which is the number one priority in my book so we have no reason to buy elsewhere!

Went to Gatwick koi yesterday to pick up the tancho showa we bought earlier in the year, I did also have a Kujaku that I had bought but the shipment got cancelled so that wasn't to be. However, Gary gave me the credit for it and more on top! so couldn't resist when he offered this nice maruten sanke for a bit more money, he was baffled it hadn't been sold earlier and had reduced it:

I'm gonna need to get myself a bowl soon as I want to try and take some decent top down photos but for the mean time I had another go with the waterproof camera:

Stunning Sanke and fantastic quality underwater photos as well.

I phone Gary yesterday and he said he was too busy with customers and to call back another time.... Wonder if that was when you were there?
