Thought it would have been dug by now get that shiny new shovel going a bit quicker. Is there not a pull cord on it. Last time I cut a sleeper with a hand saw I looked for a bloody hour for the pull cord

Found the pull cord on the spade, wish I'd found it earlier.
I'm leaving the lump in the corner for now as I've found it useful to have the barrow at that height, but next step is levelling it, (definitely looks higher on the left) then I will remove the lump with the barrow on it.

Everything is insulated now on the holding tank. Filter tubs bubble wrapped. We'll see how it fairs during the next bit of cold weather.

Just sorted the box for the drum project. £30 for a 50gal loft tank box someone has turned into a filter, with inlets and outlets in the perfect place already. Along with a 55w Kockney Koi UV, a pump and an a little box filter. Rude not too. At that price.

Got the chinese temp controller last week too. Its called an "MH2000 Microcomputer Temperature Controller". Its switchable from heating/cooling. I can put whatever heater I like on it now. Titanium aquarium heaters seem cheap on ebay if my old one packs in.

Found a a really smart plug converter (£1.60) for the five quid chinese temp controller, so it hopefully still plugs into my outdoor waterproof plug sockets.
Found it on euronetwork website:

Temp controller sorted. Its in the waterproof box and both the aquarium heater amd the thermostat are inside the static media tub. The thermostat sensor is 'up stream' of the heater, so it doesn't just heat the tub up.
... The plug converter didn't fit under the waterproof plug socket as intended, but I got round that by using the extension lead to the big green box and plugging the temp controller in there instead.Last edited by Alburglar; 09-02-2020 at 10:55 AM.

Managed to do a lot of levelling in the hole this afternoon. I did a rakes width along the back walls and got them straight with a spirit level I could then see how much material I needed to remove. It was surprisingly hard work! I also removed any stones raked up from the surface layer of soil. I got about two thirds of it done. There's still a big lump in the front right corner to sort out.

Looking nice an level now! Very jealous of your decent soil. In my garden as soon as you are 12” down you hit shale. Imagine the fun I had digging 4 ft down
