There will be a concrete pad next to the pond for the filter system. I may eventually put some walls round it and a lift up roof and clad it the same as the pond.

The side on view of the 'filter house'.

I have to Squeeze a UV in somewhere. Do people think I should connect the skimmer to the sieve along with the bottom drain.
Or run the skimmer as a seperate system, potentially via UV and back to pond via waterfall/blade.
... although I've just been reading about the amalgam submersible UVs and that looks like I could slip it in the system anywhere.

Also. Considering the size of the pond, can anyone see an issue with this pool type of skimmer? Its listed as koi / pool and seems ideal for bolting to the side of my fibreglass tank.

The bottom drain may end up being a side mounted Tommy drain or tank connector with a 90 degree bend pointed at the floor, with about a 10mm gap between it and the floor. Effectively doing the same job. Won't get the 'vortex' effect in the pond but keeps the tanks 'stand alone' integrity if I ever want to sell it.

I've gathered all the bits for the temporary IBC pond. The aluminium cross members are supports for my existing tub filters and UV box filter. I think this setup will eventually filter the big pond (after the sieve) with the anoxic bed in the IBC. We'll see how it pans out.

New Christmas present is working well with suggested modifications: A float ring to keep the seal above water level. I also put some silicon grease around the seal too. I just need to add a little bag of silicon gel inside it for longevity.

    Little update.
As soon as the water was ready in the temporary holding tank I rescued some koi, a golden tench and a common musk turtle (now named Elon) from a pond closure. They came with a decent pump and a diy filter half full of flocor, scaffold netting and I've added some foams.

They appear to be settled, there's been no ammonia spikes and I'm keen to crack on so I'm getting ready to add my younger fish and the filters from my grow out pond. This meant adding a platform to sit the filters on. An IBC cage is designed to take another 1ton IBC on top of it, so I'm bargaining on it being strong enough. My filters will be 100 - 125 kgs each as thats the equivalent litres they hold.
So I've made this platform. The cross members are made from aluminium Schmitz (HGV) double deck loading bars rated at 1000kg each. The platform is aluminium hgv trailer side bars.

And this is the start of a potential Drum filter project...
... Although this is on the long term, so for now I will probably just strip it for the drum and the motor, if its any good...

Blimey. That was a busy day today.
Fish moved, All filters cleaned out, modified where necessary and water is flowing again. I haven't got any air going in the moving bed yet, but thats a job for tomorrow.

Moved my electrics. Got the air pump going on a rubber mat in the sound deadening box I made. Seems to be working well, but the test will be at night as this is right under my bedroom window. I do have a door for it somewhere if necessary.
The airline has a non return valve, but I need to find a milk crate or something to raise it up a bit.

The rescue fish came with a free pump which looked decent and the bloke said it was only 6 months old. Its a Pontec Pondomax Eco 5000. I initially fitted it and it cleared the muddy water they came in, in about 6 hours flat. However, my tubs can't handle the 5000lph so I'll need to add a 2nd overflow to each one if I want to use it instead of the jebao 2000lph. It did do a much better job of sucking the leaves up.

    Stripped the washing machine today.

I saved the drum, the fly wheel, the motor and the belt. Along with the seal for the front of the drum.
That gives me the whole drive system to play with.

If i use the motor I'll have to mount it the other way round out of the water proof box.

The drum housing has the bearing in it, which needs replacing, but I'll do that because its waterproof (to a degree). I'll cut a neat section of the back off, to retain the bearing housing and then bolt and sealant the housing to the outside of the rdf.

Here's the plan. I'll worry about the spray bar, mesh, trough and float switch later, once I've got it spinning and water tight. That way it won't have cost me more than a new bearing kit and whatever I sort out for the box to see if the theory works.
Anyone got a link for someone that will make a plastic welded box up? Preferably for 50p?
Or where to get the sheets of plastic from?

I don't think the air pump housing is gonna blow off in a strong wind any more! It slots into it's bracket so I can simply lift it off to access the filter lids.
