Wooden filter shed...?
Hi there,
As the title suggests, has anyone put their filters, pumps and UV etc. inside a wooden shed?
My current garden shed (which is right next to my pond) is not that big and pretty knackered now, so I'm thinking of buying a huge replacement shed (2nd hand) and bagsying half of it to get my Koi kit out of the elements... (and letting the missus keep half for the gardening stuff)
If anyone has done it - did you waterproof a section for any potential leaks etc.? Any other issues to get around, such as condensation etc.?
Cheers again,
Rich

Not something I have done, but I would think you will need to put in a concrete floor to take the weight of the filtration equipment, this should also take care of the waterproofing, not that you would expect any leaks, you can also insulate the filtration but dependent on what filters you have will depend on if you get any condensation, my filters are pretty much sealed, so no condensation.

I have put a house drain in my filter room, so all BD purges go straight to drain, no mess,

Dependent on what you are planning and if you are putting a full concrete slab in the shed, you could put a row of bricks around the bottom which would act as a bund to stop any water on the floor soaking into the wooden frame, keeps it off the ground

i did it with a 12x8 shed, had no problems but all my waste was piped out of shed, just made sure shed was on a good base, you could get one of those gravil mat things and cut part of shed floor out,you put it down then fill with gravel, this would act as a soakaway if you did spill,as for misses and gardening stuff, tell her to get aher own smaller shed,or she will take over lol, andi

Yes, many house their koi equipment in sheds. Waterproof the area with a pond liner or raised platform to prevent water damage. Install vents or an extractor fan to reduce condensation. Use outdoor-rated sockets and waterproof electrical connections. Ensure easy access for maintenance.

I have a wooden "shed", on a concrete base.
I have loads of ventilation and still get condensation on the ceiling in winter.

I have my filters, pumps, uv’s, etc housed in a 10ft x 8ft metal shed, which was a lot cheaper than the wooden ones.
I did have to dig down 10 inches so the Nexus would work with a bottom drain. Luckily there’s a manhole just behind the shed so all the waste water goes down there.
Here’s a pic, not as tidy and clean as Dave’s, but it works fine.

2” returs from BD and skimmer
I tried, but nowhere near enough flow into the filter to produce even 6,000 litres/hr. So will...
