Yes its running to a database that expands continuously for every bit of data that comes in, it actually stores it in multiple databases and every time the database reaches it's limit or the system reboots it starts a new version of the database, but the software stitches them all together to give a seamless view, so I will be able to go back and look at historical values.

    Options for the future are
    • Min and Max temperatures Daily
    • Min and Max temperatures Monthly
    • Min and Max temperatures Yearly
    • Monthly historic temperatures
    • Yearly historic temperatures

Just added the Min and Max for the water temperature and Air temperature

This is based on the last 6 hour, Min and Max changes based on the selected window you are looking, so it will be different Min and Max for the last 12 hours etc

You can also set thresholds so the graph changes colour if the temperature gets to cold or to hot and I can set alerts to let me know if the pond has dropped below a certain temperature

    Currently
    • RED - -10 to 0 degrees
    • BLUE - 0 to 9 degrees
    • YELLOW - 9 to 11 degrees
    • GREEN - 11 to 26 degrees
    • RED - 26 to 45 degrees

Each graph can be changed individually to display whatever you want and whatever colours you want

Our manufacturing apps guys use Grafana for a lot of their data; it's pretty neat.

When I finally get my pond up and running I was hoping to employ a RPi for a few sensors but there doesn't seem to be anything out there at a reasonable price for ammonia/nitrate/nitrite. Have you found anything for your PLC?

Any comments on my window questions from the other day please?

A few questions on windows if you don't mind...

When you did your window, how much did you allow for the thickness of fibreglass in the rebate? Say your window is 30mm thick, did you rebate to, say, 35mm deep? It looks like you just fiberglassed straight onto the blocks for the rebate? I was thinking of letting my window overlap the rebate by 50mm at each edge, does that sound okay?

    Cheers,

    Kris.
Sorry Kris, I missed this, Life is a little disjointed for me at the moment and things slip my mind more than normal

As for the rebate the thickness of it needs to be the same as the thickness of the glass, so in my case its 30mm, rebate which was created by the 25mm insulation and the adhesive, the reason is that the fiberglass goes into the rebate the same thickness ans the pond , so your 30mm rebate will be 30mm after the fiberglass is applied, on the surface that the glass sticks to

Yes it is just fiberglassed onto the blocks for the rebate

I think my glass overlaps by about 50 to 60mm so I left 70 to 80mm for the rebate which give about 20mm clearance all around the window, this is to allow for the curve that is created when folding the fiberglass into the corners, the gap is then filled in with Idealseal MS290, you cant get a tight corner easily with fiberglass

    Hope that makes sense

No I haven't really looked at ammonia/nitrate/nitrite yet, the next one I am looking at is Dissolved Oxygen, I don't think the ammonia/nitrate/nitrite will be an easy option as they tend to use a reagent

Sort of, thanks. I think what I'm asking is how thick is the fibreglass, so that I can add that thickness to the size of the rebate needed to hold the window.

The fibreglass is the same thickness on the block as on the insulation so therefore it doesn’t take anything away from the rebate, only the width which you need to allow at least 20mm all around

What about one of those 3 canister 10" or 20" big blue jumbo filters?

OK I have had some leaking issues with mine but that's just because I didn't use enough PTFE on the threads but the 10" version I have is rated to 8 lpm which is quite fast compared to some of the others that are much bigger filters. I think the 20" version may have an even higher flow rate.

I accidentally ran mine at 9 to 10 lpm the other day and when I tested the pond for Chlorine it was clear

I was only wanting to run it at about 4 to 5 lpm to make sure I was well within it's capabilities.

As for running bi carb dosing through it, I have no idea

I'm already running a 3 stage 10" canister filter and its not up to what I need, it needs to be 12.5 litres per hour and I cant get that out of a 10" canister, I was thinking about replacing one of the filters for another carbon canister

Have you checked the figures for the 20" version?

I'm guessing that would be twice what a 10" is rated to or if not maybe two 20s in parallel? Be a bit pricey but if it does the trick? Just need to put a flow meter and inline tap for each filter.
