That's a lovely pond you have built there Pricer8 ..........but you have a Laburnum tree right behind it which is highly poisonous
( stunning tree though ) sadly every part of it is poisonous, would be worried with the seeds falling into your pond and the fish
having a munch on them and also the effect on the water chemistry.
But I expect you know that already....................

Thanks Anne. To be honest, I didn’t know about the Laburnum. Haven’t had too many issues so far with poison but it is a bone of contention with the wife as it looks great for 2 weeks a year then drops a sh*t load in the pond that I’m constantly netting. I’d like to get rid and she wants to keep it so this might help my case Pond build dilemma Also haven’t had too many issues with the water. Had it tested yesterday again to check, managed to turn it into a home schooling lesson on water chemistry with my boy too. The sunglasses were his PPE Pond build dilemma

Hahaha I work in IT so have a few lying around so make them useful. Had to clear room for the “lab” so laptops were moved and water testing was prioritised

He gains enough access to get his materials delivered and I get rid of a hedge I didn’t want... however, I noticed he had a mini digger ripping it out. I chanced my arm and asked if he fancied digging a pond out whilst he is at! Not only did he agree, he also wanted all the soil out of it for his place!!! So 2 days later, the hole is dug (I did have to wheelbarrow all the soil to his place) but a small price to pay. Here is some pictures of my hole. It’s 12ft x 10ft and will be 4.5ft deep once I’ve built up.

I need some advice now on putting a bottom drain in and should I gravity feed it? I’m currently running an Oase Screenmatic pump fed but considering the Proficlear drum as I work away a lot.

    Appreciate your thoughts.

Do you know roughly how far away you built your pond from the drain running through your garden?
I’m facing a similar problem where I have what I believe to be a waste water drain running down my garden. I’m not building my pond above it, but from what I can tell by looking down the man hole, it follows my garden path, which runs down the side of where the pond will be (I mean right next to it). I’m just worried about the weight of the pond potentially collapsing the drain and wondered if this is something you considered? (I’m probably being paranoid)
