New Pond Build
After much planning and design changes we have finally started the build.
Size of dig was 6m x 3m x 1.2m After blocking it should be 5.5 x 2.5 x 1.5 to give around 4000 gallon pond.
Synergy Combi 35 Drum.
Two JBR Bottom Drains with air defusers.
One JBR Skimmer
Still unsure as to pump size for the returns an the size / location of them.
Pics to follow.

New Pond Build
That's a good size. Looking forward to the progress pictures
The superfish eco variable pumps are very good and also I've heard good things about the aqua forte variable pumps.

Huston we have a problem.
Local concrete company cannot get down lane to pump concrete.
They can get the pump down but not the truck as there is a narrow section at the top of the lane which is just over 8 foot wide.
It looks like its going to have to be mixed by hand. Not a job I'm looking forward to doing.

Have found a company that can get one of there mini mixers down. Maximum 3.5 cubic meters.
Have to build a chute to get concrete to base but its better than mixing by hand.
will get pipe work and drains in when rains stops.

We would have to drive it down a very uneven lane, then down a large sloping grassed area and back up to pond.
it was discussed when pond was dig and due to the nature of access we decided against it. More would end up slopping out than would reach the pond area.
We have found a company with a mini mix that can get close.
if you look on last pic there is a large gap in high wall ( level with digger in pic) which they can get to.
Will have to make a chute to get concrete down to pond.

Hi, That's a Stunning View your fish are going to have.
Its looks like we are on the same curve, I've just had my 4th Grab truck arrive and only 1/3 of the way through the pond dig.
What's your wall construction going to be like, and it render /Fibreglass or liner ?
I have read on here that some are lining the pond wall with hard foam, Celotex type and then glassing over that- I guess just for insulation purposes, are you going to such lengths ?
Good luck with it all in any case.

Hi
Dense block on side for walls then hard foam and glassing.
Not been able to do anything else as it’s not stopped raining.
I was hoping to get DPM in and bottom drains but looking at forecast it’s going to have to wait until next weekend

I have managed to sort concrete for a week on Saturday.
I have drawn up some plans for pipe work.
Two drains, one skimmer all to drum
returns are 2 inch pipe.
I have put several returns in the plan, I can then alternate the flow around the pond eaxt week by opening and closing some returns.
Please comment on return locations etc.
Thanks

How do I make sure that the bottom drains do not get and concrete in them. Will tape over the top be strong enough when I tamp the concrete level.

Stick some scrunched up polythene bags down them, tape another one over the top then stick an old broken slab or block over the hole.
If anything goes inside just pick it off with a screwdriver. Don’t forget to take the bags out though else you’ll be cursing me when your drains are properly blocked up
