I original tried to get the same bricks as my house but they were discontinued. I even went to have a look at a load of stone in a farmers field but gave up on that as it would have added even more to the cost in labour. I was of the same mind as you that I wanted a old rustic type of brick. They look just like mine from your pictures. Sad aren't I.

All I know Adam if you still want some. I know the delivery firm was jewsons in hull. Send them a picture or take a brick to your locale jewsons. And tell them what you want. And see if they have any. And your not sad mate. You have a dream. And that's what you need and want. Like I said earlier on post to you. I told Shaun the builder that is what I wanted. I showed him a picture of the type of pond that had already been built
just put a few adjustments to it .to make it my own pond and dream. I also asked Shaun to mix them up dark and light. He has done just that as I wanted it. Brill
hope this helps mate.all the best freddyboy

to days progress mainly laying out for new filter house and upper pond. plus wall for garden and upper pond. also spent a lot of time working out water level and skimmer .where the hight is and all that. also laid engineering bricks.

Bottom drain had some cement inside of it.note near bucket cement and chisels all out now.
    20160401_133251.jpg

laying of pipe work for drainage to drains. notice coiled of ribbed pipe.hose near my drain sink. to be buried under pavers,so if i have problems just lift paver's up

    20160401_134036.jpg

A couple of photos where back infinity window is going to sit.

photo of upper pond engineer bricks cemented in and marked out for brick layers for to day. and bricks been humped to position for them.

filter house engineer bricks laid and marked out for brick layers to day. notice door. going to be double for if i want to ever change filters. or have problem. good thinking on Shaun part.
i would not of thought of that. notice drain pipe running under brick work.

New Draco Drum arrived to day i took it out of packaging noticed that the compared to the manual it should have had a 90 degree fitting. it had aT fitting for waste. E mailed Draco. and with in minutes
got a reply. its now the right fitting the T piece. Tony of Draco came up with the idea if you have a blockage you can see down pipe and rod it. without having to take the pipe work a part. brilliant idea.
They are a brilliant service. most helpful and prompt. jill is very good as well
That is the waste pipe in photo alongside the Draco Drum. i even assembled it my self in about an hour. not in the nexus. but ready to go in. then took it apart and reboxed it back up for when we need it. it realy is that easy. saves ripping pipe work out. Brilliant cannot wait to see it operating.20160401_123941.jpg

Waste pipe laid out bung end at bottom of waste pipe goes into bottom of nexus once easy and air has been took out. notice in photo of instructions 90 degree.they still have to update this

Thats it for yesterday folks hope your enjoying thread

if weather holds of two brick layers coming to day. fingers crossed. Shaun does not work weekends
he has quality time at weekends with his son.good on him. any way folks today

Cheers Freddy, I was just commenting on the look of your bricks. I still have 300 or 400 bricks left over from my pond which I might make in to pillars for a roof but I digress. Exciting times ahead freddy.

cheers adam nice one . getting there mate .but big push today on filter house and upper pond now on hold because of rain. the two brick layers that was doing this
and my main wall only work at weekends. they work for other firms during week. and work for clearwater aquatics at weekends .so in a nutshell a week behind on that score
you cannot beat nature. i expected it though this time of year. all the best fred what you doing a pergola. might do this next year. see first if my 3 foot walls keep s it a little shaded
plus where my six foot wall is may also help shade it. the sun comes mostly at this side. best fred

No john no work today rain stopped play. i will show you some pictures of my draco and explain how it sits in nexus 300
see those 2 small holes you get brackets and bolts four the four points on the casing. my pipe is hiding the other two thats at the front
and there is two more points at the back.so four brackets in all. this one has a pump . the white pump on the side. most work of garde hose pressure

i did bucket test yesterday my readings where for 14 litre bucket timed at 52 seconds so the equation goes at 14x60 divided by 52 = 16.1 LPM i dont know how to turn it into bar pressure.
i think thats right. they say 1.95 bar minimum i think it should be enough. I asked Draco how much the pump was. thats how good they are.could of sold me pump. and ripped me off.but told me to try my garden hose to it when fitted. Then go from there.

2 brackets hanging over where easy was took out and 2 brackets at other side

photo of brackets and bolts all the holes are for adjustment. say your water level in nexus might be lower or higher then mine.so you can lower or raise.
    20160402_095214.jpg

next here is a picture of water censure that detects dirty water and turns draco drum on to rotate and clean. note screw bolt for raising and lowering for water hight in nexus

    20160402_094504.jpg

here is picture of junction box and water valve water valve is blue. notice hose i put on garden hose is 15 mm i did a bucket test 14 litres in a minute it filled 14 in 52 seconds equation i believe works out at
14 x 60= 840 divided by 52 seconds =16.1 then i rang draco up and asked about the price for a pump. they said try it out with hose first and see how it goes then we will talk about a pump. could of ripped me off. shows what good people they are. been a great help.so jill and Tony if you read this thanks. going by flow rate on my garden hose should be okay with out pump.
    20160402_094701.jpg
notice the drive motor on swing mount. you can rotate this away from drum to give the 58 micron mesh a gentle blast with pressure washer and spray bar

    20160402_094516.jpg
here is drum inlet flexible hose with baffle plate on the end. and waste pipe. origanaly this had a 90 degree fitting. they changed the fitting to a T piece.
so if blockages you can see down and rod it out or blast it out. great idea.

    20160402_095108.jpg

thats it for now john any more questions just ask mate hope this helps and asks your question on how it sits in best fred

Great thread Freddy, looks blinding that mate.
I'm a Hull lad aswell, East and West....currently Bilton. I'm just about to start laying blocks after having my base and BD in for over a year, a bad back and an expensive car repair put paid to it last year but I'm fit and raring to go again .
One good thing about the lay off is I've had more time to plan and to pick up a few bargains along the way namely a lump of 5' x 3' glass for the window for the price of a Saturday night 'round town !
Look forward to seeing it progress

Yeah lee. It's to do with. The working away for 3 weeks mainly on the rigs. With our lass permanently running the cafe. She has no time. So basically I needed something to look after its self until I get home
I wouldnt have paid what it cost for a stand alone drum. Even though what I have read there good. Is still in my opinion a big rip off
the Draco drum was more affordable mate. I would rather keep the nexus as it was with the easy inside if I was working local. Because I like cleaning the filters out. I have always enjoyed doing that job on the pond.then when family and visitors mention how clean the water is I get a buzz. Because they can see the fish.

looking at your build thread mate. Nice set up mate. Looks nice. Might need some info of you on plants further down the line. For when the upper pond is built. For I am going that way. Use it as a bog filter with plants gravel.

been following the read on spike.with you and ghost. On the plants side good info mate. Best Fred
