    Showa or Sanke

I’ve had this fish for 25 years now and was told she was 5 years old when i bought her. In all that time I always thought she was a Showa but a couple of days ago a guy came round to give me a quote on an extension, he also keeps Koi and was convinced this fish was a Sanke.
So I thought I would throw it out there to see what you lot think.

Sorry for the clarity of the water, I treated with blanket weed answer and not cleared yet

Looks to me like a Sanke.

Both Showa and Sanke koi can have sumi markings on the fins but a Showa will only have sumi spots whereas a Sanke will only have sumi stripes. In addition, the fins of a Sanke will be shiroji coloured but the fins of a Showa will be much more translucent.

Showa for me, has sumi, beni & shiroji on the head and the sumi extends past the lateral line too.

Looks like we’re pretty split at the moment. I thought it was a Showa because there is sumi no the head, a large amount of sumi on the body extending below the lateral line and there is sumi on the root of the pectoral fins, not a lot but it is there.

    Anyone else have any thoughts.

    3 / 2 in favour of a Showa

I would've said Showa too based on how much sumi it has, the Sumi drops below the lateral line, is in the fins and is on the head too.

I think I’m going to give this one to the Showa as its 4/2 in favour, and if you include me it’s 5/2
I shouldn’t doubt myself. I always thought it was a Showa

There is definitely sumi on her head, not a lot I admit but it is there.
