Who is she, who is she, who is she... RIP Nicky Graham

Anyone know what she is? It's the best pic I could get, but from the top her scales are an amazing silver/blue colour.

Hi guys,
Thanks for the replies.
Rolo, she is 100% koi, bought from my local reputable dealer.
samp, I get where you're coming from, I've never even made the asagi connection (which happen to be my fave koi variety), but now you've said it I can see it. As you say, she only has the tiny patches of orange on her that you can see in the pic, and her scales are much fuller and don't have the typical net pattern, but they are the right colour.
I wonder if she could be an asagi cross. I'm shocked I've never seen the asagi in her before.
Cheers,
Jay

Just read this, and this suggests she is an ancient asagi, the original coloured carp, before they bread them with the red mutations.
"Of these early black carp, Asagi was the first colorful variety developed — and from then on, Asagi became the origin of all the beautiful koi we enjoy today.
It is very interesting to study how Kohaku was developed from Asagi. Today, living proof that Kohaku was developed from Asagi exists in living fish like the one in the photo above. Just like her, Asagi has characteristics of turning indigo blue to white on the body. Since the variety is fixed nowa- days, you won’t see this phenomenon a lot … but in the old days, the color seemed to be influenced a lot by the clay and water quality. Then, by crossbreeding with red koi, which also came out by mutation, red on the belly started emerging on the surface of the body and forming red patches. That was the beginning of a new variety: Kohaku."

How old is she Jason? I was told that when picking Asagi before its best to get them with as little orange at the bottom as possible otherwise you risk it going completely orange and the orange will come through later on in life so it may still arrive!

Hi Samp,
The pond is now 3 years old, and I think she was amongst the first year, so she's sort of 2½ ish.
She's a good size, she around 28-30 inches. And as you can see from the pic she's got a big belly and hunch. She's equally thick too.
