Kage Shiro - stunning
While I was window shopping (pretty much a daily occurrence) i come across this koi.
I had not seen a koi similar before so I thought I would share it.
The listing did not hold the variety so I contacted the retailer to ask and they confirmed it was a Kage Shiro.
I really like it.

Pretty sure I'd never heard of these but I'm not ace on varieties, in fact everytime I figure out which mine are I forget and have to start again lol (well apart from a couple of em).
Anyway, I'd never seen one of those and I do like that, I bet a ginrin one be nice.

I’m pretty good now with the variety’s but this one was new on me.. not cheap though @ £3,900
I mean I like it but I could get a much nicer fish for that money.
If you send a photo of yours I’ll have a go at identifying them.if your interested that is

Or just remember them
, it also don’t help that different people call the same variety different names..

Kage Shiro - stunning
I think I remember them as I am always looking on koi sites. Spelling them it normally where I struggle.. also pronunciation can be amusing and when I hear it on a video I realise I have been saying it completely wrong for months/ years
Here is an example a koi with 2 names
You will see it being referred as a Platinum Ogon or others will use the name Purachina why....

I am not sure on the Shiro, It is nice but it wouldn't catch my eye I don't think, however it may be a different matter when its matured in a pond as the way some fish change is unreal, my Goshiki is a prime example with the body going from silver to a deep black once it was added to the pond. I certainly would be looking at other with with a price tag of £3900 too! I feel this could get lost in a dark pond

Platinum Ogon & Purachina = The same thing.
Japanese pronunciation of Purachina = Platinum.
I got spoken to like I didn't know what I was talking about when I accidentally called a Nezu Ogon a Platinum Ogon.
Nezu Ogon = slightly more greyish than a Platinum Ogon, but I found it really hard to tell between them on the ones I saw.
The Mother of my Kirin is a 96cm Nezu Ogon, but my Kirin will reach 96cm WIDE long before she reaches 96cm long lol!

I agree the differences can be hard to determine.
Nezu - (NEH zoo) translates to Gray color. Japanese really do keep it simple

Anyone interested in learning some of the Japanese words this is a great website.
https://russellwatergardens.com/page...ary-of-terms#N
I find sometime on videos they will be talking about how great the Sashi is or how poor the Kiwa is
That link helps translate.
Kiwa – (KEE wah) The edge of a patch or marking .
Sashi - (SAH shee) Blurring of the leading edge of a pattern element, seen on scaled koi.
All good learning if your interested in this sort of thing
