Can anyone help identify this koi for me

I am new to keeping koi. I got this little guy but I am not good at understanding Koi varieties.
i think he may be some kind of Shusui. He not only has a row of scales on top but a row of scales on his side. Is there anyone who knows the correct classification of this little guy?

    Hi Steve,

Its hard to really say on this photo as the colours look over exposed. My best guess would be that its either a doitsu Hariwake or Kikokuryu (mirror scale)

With koi you can have scaled and scaleless (doitsu) variations. To confuse matters more there are also other differences in the two variations.

Just to you know, a shushi is a doitsu Asagi. Im not sure why it has its own name and is not just known as a doitsu asagi.. maybe because they do look very different Can anyone help identify this koi for me

Thanks yup the color is basically a metallic yellow on the scales and the other color on the skin and between the scales looks either grey or blueish maybe when it gets bigger it will become blue black or grey.

Definitely sounds like a Kikokuryu on that description.. these can change a fair amount in the first 5 years.. be interested in seeing how it develops Can anyone help identify this koi for me

I think you could be correct as I look at it the dark color looks a bit platinum so it could be a kin kikokuryu
