Cavesters Fish ID's
Thought I'd start a thread off for myself to get assistance on ID'ing my fish.
I have no idea what any of them are really. Bought them all when they were no more than 2/3cm long and now some of them are up to 20/30. That was just in a 1500 litre garden pond. Now they have 12500 litres of space with a window it's much easier to see them side on.
I've just transferred them in this afternoon and the water is still clearing with the drum running so expect it to get clearer over the next 10 days or so. Still need to add bio media though so only mechanical filtration running at the moment.
First fish to ID... Anyone like to help ID what it is?...
I'll add others here as I discover and photograph them as a fish log for myself

Next one. This when I bought it had an red head that went orange then disappeared altogether. Now the whole fish is just white...

I agree the first fish looks like a Ghost.
Second one based on the description would have originally been a doitsu Kohaku (possibly tancho)
Now I would classify it as a shiro muji.
Out of interest how many fish did you have in the original pond and what are you planning on doing for the bio filter in the new pond.
Make sure you keep a close eye on the water...

There were about 10 of mixed verity in the old pond but when they were first put in there they were all about 2cm fry, some are just gold fish.
I now have a combi drum, bottom drain 4", 4" JBR skimmer and 2 X 2" returns and 2 X 20k pumps on a 12.5k ltr pond. Drum is good for 30k it recons. Have 50ltr of K1 to go in and can go to 100 according to the specs.
The water these came out of was horrid as the old pump could not keep up so water quality of this will be leaps and bounds ahead of the other.
Tested the water, and as expected because it's a new pond, all parameters were good, however expect the cycle coming over the next few months. Must admit however fish were transferred from old house to a temp swimming pool when we moved house and never measured the parameters then so who knows what they were in before, I should test it and see.

What?s holding you back from adding the k1? I personally would get it in there so it can start maturing albeit slowly at these temps.
The old pond would have likely had a good bio film and clarity does not really inform you of the water quality.
When you move the fish into a new pond the water will soon build up ammonia and with no bio it could quickly become a problem.
Just take it nice and slow, I would suggest not adding any new addition until next season other than your current stock.

I need an air pump which I plan to get/order tomorrow. Just don't know which one to go for. Have. 60lph on the bottom drain and it's too powerful for that so for the bio chamber I'll need something a lot smaller I think. As soon as I have that I plan to put the k1 in there.

Why not split the 60 across the 2 with a manifold?
Be no harm to add the k1 without it moving until the air is added

Don't have a 2 way so just as quick to get another pump as I want to control independent.
Ok cool, will add the K1 in the morning, thanks. Just didn't know if it would prevent flow if not bubbling.

I'd say its a Sanke, more of a traditional pattern I think.

Both Showa and Sanke are tri colour both in the Gosanke group along with the Kohaku
It can be hard to tell between Sanke and Showa sometime but generally Sanke will not have any sumi (black) on the head.
Also a Sanke is a white base fish and a Showa is black.
On a Showa the sumi will grenerally be in bands down the sides and extend up while Sanke is more on top and spotted with sumi
There will be exceptions to this but this is how I would generally make the distinction
