    Naomi,

That's not a typical example of a koi being kept in the UK. And its not really inevitable that all Koi in the UK are shiite.

I thought it was a long time ago when I was there and almost all the KOIs of the so called top hobbyists of the time were like that. I am concerned, however, that such KOIs are still being seen on video and that they are accepted as the norm. I don't want to link to them directly. How can we tell people about them?

At least in the case of KOI, which is of Japanese blood or Japanese descent. Aggressive feeding at water temperatures below 20°C is of no use and has more harmful effects.

    Hi Naoki,
I think you will find that the quality of koi in the uk has improved massively in the last 30 years. I remember my grandfather's koi collection being the envy of all his koi keeping friends about 30 years ago. However, by today's standards those fish were very ordinary. Obviously, here in the uk we face some real challenges in maintaining water quality and temperature but that's all part of the hobby.

Not sure if you are using Google translate or if you are just a very serious person but the tone of your posts seems a bit inappropriate for a friendly and open forum. I'm sure we are all grateful for any knowledge or advice from an expert in Japan but please try and be a little more positive. There are people on this forum who have devoted most of their lives to koi keeping.
    Cheers, Tim

I had a similar experience with someone in the Netherlands the other day, and I liked the feature of adding the ai function to translate some of the more difficult expressions that I'm good at, which I couldn't do with google's translation before.

I've been using this site to communicate with you, and I've been using rude expressions that I never thought I'd use here.
I was foolish enough not to notice it.

No disrespect to the owner of that Koi, but that is as far away from being a typical Koi in the UK that I have ever seen. In fact technically it isn't even a Koi.

Since typical Koi in the UK are actually from Japan and are often hand picked by the Dealer that arrives first, whether it be a British, Dutch, American or Japanese Dealer, a typical Koi in the UK will be identical to a typical Koi in Japan.

If you want to see what a typical UK STRAIN of Koi looks like, then look here:

    https://www.byerkoifarm.co.uk/

    and here:

    https://cuttlebrookkoifarm.co.uk/col...i-farm-390-koi

If you want to see a crap Koi in the UK, take a look at a garden centre website where they stock the cheap rejected koi from Japan and Israel, or just go to your local Koi farm in Japan and ask to see the rejects/cullings that will be sold on cheaply.

Exactly. The fish in this post is a ghost koi, not a typical British (Japanese imported) koi. There is many people in the UK who have ponds with garden centre koi and ghost carp etc, the same as there is many Koi hobbyists with top grade koi, and some with ex Japan show winners in their ponds. Adam Byer who is a British breeder using Japanese koi parents has multiple examples of his Koi beating Japanese Koi in shows here so I think you may have a misconception with British koi hobbyists. As I have said before, I believe your intentions are good with your posts but the translation is coming across differently which makes people think you are basically saying Japan hobbyists are far superior than British hobbyists, and that everything we do here is wrong. By saying this fish is a example of a typical British Koi is completely wrong, as for a start its not even a fish you could purchase at a proper Koi dealer, this is a Pet Shop fish. Like all hobbies there are several different variations and this would be towards the bottom, not a Koi hobbyists fish.

It would be like me asking to use a Nissan Note as an example of the fastest Japanese car available!

Thank you for your patience. It took us a while, but we managed to find some photos that show similar examples in Japan.
    You can find it here:
    https://uu-life.com/Essay/photo/new-photo/01-Carp.jpg
If I use of this photo clear up your misconceptions?
Would your misunderstandings be cleared up if I were to describe the events as having occurred in Japan, of Japanese bred?

I've read it again and it seems to me the KOI that I said was typical in the UK was a ghost KOI and you are arguing that it was not, but I didn't care if it was a ghost or not. What I wanted to point out was the issue of KOI's physical appearance and body shape. Don't all Japanese breeders and everybody who concern about KOI often say that the most important thing is the shape of the body, before pattern, before quality, before anything else? For example, I have never seen in your country such an important information written here.
    錦鯉の森/錦鯉の体型

I even thought that a MUJI type KOI would be easier to understand. It could be CHAGOI or SORAGOI or whatever, it just happened to be a ghost KOI. I would like to find some examples of top quality Japanese KOI's and show them to you, but I have refrained from doing so as it might interfere with other people's business, but there is very little information available in the UK about the correlation between KOI rearing and body shape. If I have the chance may I send them to you by private message? I would like to hear your opinion. In the light of this, I would like to talk about it in a new thread.
