Need Help ID and some Q's
I'm kinda new to this Koi thing, and I just got some small goldfish to try out my pond... They were doing all right for a week so bought a butterfly koi. Anyways, I named my new Butterfl Koi Asuku
Q's:
1. M or F?
2. variety? is it a mongrel?
3. Can I put regular koi and butterfly koi together? Will the bigger Koi pick on the smaller Butterfly?
Oh Ya btw here's the pic

Need Help ID and some Q's
Hi and welcome
Theres no definate way of determining sex with such a young koi and some of the signs that are said to be indicators are for instance shape and size of the pec fins which in a long fin koi's case isnt viable.
You will be able to put normal koi and long fin and goldfish together and they will live quite happily alongside each other
Looking at the picture it is really hard to tell if it is any real variety of koi plus its still really young and small so colours and pattern could change alot. As it is though i would say at present that its a mongrel as such but that doesnt mean it isnt a nice fish as long as you like it then it doesnt matter ay.
Is the picture youve posted your pond or a temporary aquarium?

Nice one mate. I class anything that is not Japanese koi as mutts. In my pond. I have some lovely Israeli koi. But there mutts to me.
But i would nt swap them for the world. Everyone to there own mate. Nice one on getting rid of gravel mate. Collects crud and diseases for koi.
All the best fred
