Unwanted guests pidgeons and now ducks
Hi All is there anything out there to deter these unwanted guests from visiting my pond as God knows what they bring with them at every visit, started with lock downs and Nature on increase which nice to see. Or house building destroying their habitats. Also had a Heron a while back dealt with by local builder who had broken down, not a mental breakdown. Many Thanks for any thoughts replies Dean.

Can't give much advice on the pigeons and other smaller birds, but as far as the ducks go I'd want to sort them out. I had no end of problems with a pair of ducks wrecking the water quality and then I suffered parasite problems probably fetched in by them. I lost a fish to jumping too when they were hooliganing in the pond.
No amount of chasing them off or threatening to take them to the chinese takeaway could get rid of them, they just kept on coming back. In the end I netted the pond and they would then sit on the net pushing it down into the water so I had to support the net on timber till they finally got the message. Then they sat in the shallow waterfall return in defiance I think.
Oddly, despite all my chasing them, turning the hose on them, letting the dogs out etc to chase them off, they kept coming til one morning I was out walking the dog and the wife chased them off... they haven't been back since that time.. not saying the missus is scary mind but well........

I can loan you our cat. Although we had a mouse in the house over winter and he was useless. Ive got them on the wildlife pond where they are a welcome addition, until they head for the koi pond!
