    Pond cover

Ive seen a couple of ideas for a pond cover that would stop children falling in but not sure if it would stop a heron? There would be around 130mm gap between the bars and the water. Would I still need net?

I think industry standard for barriers, and building standards is 110mm gaps. Thats the magic figure for not losing a toddler through them.

Think he means 130mm bottom of bars top of water. Could be wrong tho just how I've read it

    I see.
I don't think the those ones would stop the heron.

Can't see it being long enough to reach the bottom of the pond and that's where the fish will be as soon as a heron starts poking about!

They stand in the water to fish normally so far as I have seen so I think the 'wrought iron' jobs should be heron proof as well as kiddie safe.

They will stand on any flat surface as long as they feel safe.. I had one stand on copings of my pond. As for swimming deep yes they will but heron are ambush animals that will stand and wait until the fish gets complacent
