Yes, still running it, no idea what difference its making if any so need to compare with others.
Without covers and the 100w I think it would be 12C.

Outside temps 9c. But phone says feels like 6c. And it does feel 6c.
Pond temp is now 12.6c. Just fed the sharks.
One feed a day now. But a biggy.
Just put a load of aqua resolve in the pond
For winter.

About 32p a day.
I think the 300w heater would be a lot more effective and cost around 90p a day.

I'm no authority on these matters but was surprised at how well my temps have maintained and stabilised even with a basic fish tank heater. Maybe in winter it will have barely any effect at all.
But for a 350 gal grow on I'd go for it, set it at the lowest setting (usually around 18C) and hopefully it will help hold temps up and prevent the temp fluctuations that a small tank normally suffers from, but doubt it would be enough to raise temps by any meaningful margin.

For what it’s worth I have a 320gal QT and I have an inline 3kw heater on it holding 22c currently and I have been monitoring the electricity meter and not seen a meaningful variance and also never caught it actually running. Likely comes on and off in the night time. I have just taken delivery of a digital thermostat that I will be adding inline as not overly happy with the onboard analogue one in the heater as it allows the temp to fluctuate +-2c I want a greater level of accuracy . And I assume it will also increase efficiency

That's the main difference, a 3kw heater will use 10x more electric then a 300w heater when it's on, but won't be on 24/7.
For equivalent cost the 3kw would need to only be on for 2.5 hours in a 24 hour period.

I think the main reason for me oversizing was so when I do water changes the temperature does not fluctuate as the heater can quickly stabilise it. This would work fine but the thermostat is lettting it down

Running heater at low temp?
Covering the pond with polycarb should be enough to stop water temps dipping below 6C for the most...
