We also have a Ucam247 (front and back) - set up with cable then picks up wifi; rarely have an issue with them.

I need a security camera that I can mount externally that will only require plugging in and will pick up the house wifi from inside without any Ethernet cables being required. I'm not too up on such things and want to ensure I order the correct make and model assuming I can find this spec. Plus would like to be able to view camera remotely on iPhone.

    Any advice really appreciated.

    thank you.

I would go for a wired camera. This is a picture of one of the 5mp cameras on a 30m wire. I do have a camera on a 50m length and picture is just as clear. Clarity has been sized down to post on this site.

Wow 3 years on from the start of this thread.

Pleased to say I’m still using the same nest camera and now have a nest doorbell too so can see front and back of the house at once on my phone screen with my room thermostat also. If only Nest made heat pumps too!

Good to hear from you Feline. Hope all is food your end. And I started the thread and still haven’t purchased a camera for my pond yet! I’m still intending to but new koi, food, meds, new pergola roof, new ASHP after my first one packed up seem to have got in the way!!!

Nest camera system does sound good. I’ll recheck it out. Thanks.

What interface do you use to connect cameras?

I use 'Blue Iris' for my cameras - Home - Blue Iris Software

Has a mobile app to view cameras as well.

    Holy thread resurrection

Well 4 years on I now have 4 Nest cameras
Thinking of adding one inside my filter house too so I can keep an eye on all the meters without being here.
My chickens have chicken cams in both of their runs now so I check their automatic doors are open and closed when they should be and see if the food hoppers need filling.

    A filterhouse camera is useful.
Below is a screenshot from my "old system" before the ongoing change to airlift and more anoxic.
As well as a module to text me if the pump stops working, the CCTV image shows the pump wattage, water temp, heater on/off and whether the system is running on the primary RCD or backup.

The new version will need one or two tweeks beacuse I will be running a main air pump with a back up air pump system. I think I will replace the pond pump display with a couple of digital AC ammeters (one for each air pump).
If the pump is working and pressurised it will show a set reading, but in case of diaphragm failure of pressure loss the current will be less. I will still build in some device to alert me by SMS if flow stops.

A filter house view is quite reassuring to check in on when away from home.
My DIY ponds from 1988 until present day.

I use a yale one. Works well. I have a box in the house connected to the telly but you can view on an app on your phone too.
    Even works well at night.
