Thread: Looking to sell a collection of Koi due to pond dismantle

Yeah it's very diifficult to price smaller Koi without an idea of genetics (what breeder) and how old it is etc. Photos and lengths will be a good start.
For example a two foot Koi that's 7 years old and has a less desirable pattern isn't 'worth' much, but I'm sure someone will come pick it up.
If the same Koi is 2 years old and the breeder is known for its fish patterns developing later, then that's a real prospect at the fish potentially being grown huge and being pretty. You could put a price on them.

Neither size (to a point) nor pattern on their own dictate how much a Koi is worth.

It could be a tancho Showa, pretty as anything but 35cm long and old enough to not be doing much more growing. Not 'worth' anything but again, someone would come grab it.
If the same fish is a year old from Isa with a certificate then it's worth very good money.

If they're 90cm and stunning, then that's a different story. The fish will speak for themselves. But those fish are incredibly rare, hence the cost.

The fish, generally go in a bag with some water and air,.much like a goldfish from a shop would, but on a larger scale. You can pretty much leave that up to the person collecting the fish to sort some bags and an air pump and some cardboard boxes, if you don't have any.
