Why not use 2 x 500 watt heaters.

Cheap stainless aquarium heaters, cheap plug in temp controller like the inkbird one. Sorted, and it's a way better thermostat than those inline ones.
2660 Gallons. 4" Bottom Drain and Skimmer. Draco Solum 16 Drum. Anoxic Filtration. Air lift returns.

I use this,a brilliant bit of kit and good price,I wire it up to an extension cable so I can run a few heaters from it.
As Al said s/s heaters are fine used for aquariums.

I use this one. Plug and play.

I plug an extension lead into it and run a bank of the 500w stainless heaters. I have run a 2kw heater off it, so it's capable of that.

Having just bought one, it looks somewhat flimsy for pond use, or am I
    being too cautious ?
It is very small but I am learning that modern pond equipment
    can be compressed.

i use a similar one called a TC-100 though nearly 20 years old now, on my 1kw elecro heater (now used as a back up for my ASHP)
that i had running a tropical reef tank back in 2007

That type are supposed to be fitted into an electrical enclosure, like a wall box or similar. That's why I use the plug and play one. No wiring or box fettling.
