Marudo Karashigoi Sansai c.50cm
This is a reluctant sale. Its colour and reticulation is so good. It does have a slight protrusion on right side flank and it was like that when I got it as tosai 2 years ago. I’d thought it was tumor but it now look less prominent as it’s put on a lot of mass.
I would bet my money on it being a female for how tame and greedy she is. But selling as unsexed, and the price of £100 reflects the protrusion.

She eats like a chag and mukashi but more graceful - she gets bullied by the bigger fish sometimes but she always returns to surface to mop up the left over good gracefully. We made the difficult decision to move her on as the 1000g pond cannot really house 6 big koi next season - she grew from 40 to 50cm unheated on saki balance this season. She will approach 60cm next season.
